Hell's Point Golf Club
About
When Hell's Point Golf Club opened in 1982, Golf Digest called it one of the best new courses and it was ranked as one of the 100 best-designed courses in the country. Renowned architect Rees Jones designed the course. He incorporated the many natural features provided by the golf course's location in the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The fairways are edged with saltwater marshes and Jones included his signature sculpted bunkers along the greensides. Just a stone's throw from the ocean, the golf course is as scenic as it is challenging. The second hole is one of southeastern Virginia's toughest golf holes with out-of-bounds to the left, trees to the right, and a sloped fairway that leads to a well guarded, double-tiered green. This par 4 is the no. 1 handicap hole at When Hell's Point Golf Club.

The greens were in great shape. Photo submitted by wadedaffinee on 07/23/2014
Great course
I love the layout of this course. It is not easy by any means, and it's not that difficult either. When I played it was still wet but not too bad. I bypass 4 or 5 other courses to get to this one. I highly recommend this course if you'd like a nice challenging and at the same time some open for Fairways.
Course condition
Course overall is normal in great condition; however today when I played it was very wet and hard to stay focused. Because of the course condition was not able to place the ball in spots I normally do.
Peaceful Christmas round
Another annual Christmas round with friends. Course was in good shape with clean greens and other course features are well kept.
Great place to play for the money
Staff is always friendly, and ready to assist you any way they can. I booked as a single they offered to pair me with a group or go out on my own which is always nice. Started on the back nine and played the course in just over 3 hours.
Very challenging course
This course provides a championship feel. Course is very challenging with great lauout.
Beautiful course
The course is in good condition. Pace was excellent. We even had the company of goats on the 8th.
Great value for ur dollar. Friendly helpful staff.
Friendly staff and some nice challenges
Play was at a good pace until we caught up to a group that were taking too much time to play on. This resulted in a bottleneck of us and others.
Staff were exceptional and a great course.to play.
Convenient to Sandbridge
Nice layout. Small herd of goats in the rough between 2 holes. Never seen that before
Great value
Good round for $25 on Golfnow.
Quiet day at course, played in just under 4 hours.
Course is very tight and narrow offer a good challenge. Nothing fancy but hit the ball straight.
Enjoyable
slow play
they allow fivesomes on the course and two of them were in front of us took three of us to play 18 in 4 1/2 hours and when we were leaving we saw a sevensome on a hole
Straight forward course
It was a very nice straight forward golf course. No real tricks or surprises. It is failrly tight at times, but very playable. Gentleman at pro sop very courteous. Winds added to the difficulty, but a nice test.
Great course to learn and practice playing golf
The greens were nice as well as the fairways. The course is layed out to skip holes if the slow players do not know how to be courteous and allow a faster player to play through and then get back to where you skipped holes and play them later. I played all 18 holes in 2 hours and played a few extra second putts and shot 1 under par. The first ball was 6 over par playing the ball down. I enjoyed the quick round, but thought $20 for a second round was a little high since other courses only charge $25 after 1 pm and this was 3 pm. My initial tee time was 1 pm.
