About

When Hell's Point Golf Club opened in 1982, Golf Digest called it one of the best new courses and it was ranked as one of the 100 best-designed courses in the country. Renowned architect Rees Jones designed the course. He incorporated the many natural features provided by the golf course's location in the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The fairways are edged with saltwater marshes and Jones included his signature sculpted bunkers along the greensides. Just a stone's throw from the ocean, the golf course is as scenic as it is challenging. The second hole is one of southeastern Virginia's toughest golf holes with out-of-bounds to the left, trees to the right, and a sloped fairway that leads to a well guarded, double-tiered green. This par 4 is the no. 1 handicap hole at When Hell's Point Golf Club.

Good value and a decent course. Greens were in very good condition and the rest of the course in reasonable shape considering just coming into springtime. Narrow fairways, but fair. Would definitely play this course again.

Nice course just needs a little maintenance

The Course has some potential for greatness with a little more care for the bunkers and fairways lacked a trimming . The greens were slower then normal due to us playing in a few rain showers and being punched . Just needs some warm weather for the grass to grow in. But still a nice course for the value.

HP COURSE IN GOOD CONDITION.

The course was in decent shape even though there were high winds which caused some tree damage. The greens were in really good condition and although it was cart path only, the pace allowed for a three and one half finish.

Great course

I love the layout of this course. It is not easy by any means, and it's not that difficult either. When I played it was still wet but not too bad. I bypass 4 or 5 other courses to get to this one. I highly recommend this course if you'd like a nice challenging and at the same time some open for Fairways.

Course overall is normal in great condition; however today when I played it was very wet and hard to stay focused. Because of the course condition was not able to place the ball in spots I normally do.

Staff is always friendly, and ready to assist you any way they can. I booked as a single they offered to pair me with a group or go out on my own which is always nice. Started on the back nine and played the course in just over 3 hours.
