Hell's Point Golf Club
About
When Hell's Point Golf Club opened in 1982, Golf Digest called it one of the best new courses and it was ranked as one of the 100 best-designed courses in the country. Renowned architect Rees Jones designed the course. He incorporated the many natural features provided by the golf course's location in the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The fairways are edged with saltwater marshes and Jones included his signature sculpted bunkers along the greensides. Just a stone's throw from the ocean, the golf course is as scenic as it is challenging. The second hole is one of southeastern Virginia's toughest golf holes with out-of-bounds to the left, trees to the right, and a sloped fairway that leads to a well guarded, double-tiered green. This par 4 is the no. 1 handicap hole at When Hell's Point Golf Club.

Amazing!
Absolutely the best course in the area! Beautiful!
09/21/2014 Course review
It was cool and wet with slight rain throughout. Course was wet and sloppy. Greens were surprisingly fast for the wet conditions but they held well with the fop shot into them.
Bring mosquito repellent but because they were out in force.
FAST GREENS AND SOFT FAIRWAY
THIS COURSE WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. IT PLAYED LONG FROM THE TIPS BUT IF YOU STAY IN THE FAIRWAY YOU WILL ENJOY YOUR ROUND.
it's was the first time and not the last
Very impresive, surrely I will recommand it and coming back. The staff is great and friendly.
Great layout. Too bad its in poor condition.
The tee boxes are abysmal. There are very few flat spots on them and very little grass. Mostly sand and weeds. The greens were ok and soft as were the fairways. I played as a single but got paired up with 3 guys and a 4 year old. One guy brought his son as rider. You can imagine what problems that caused.
Very Nice Course
Hard to give a great review because due to heavy rain the night before we played, it was cart path only and VERY wet. Office was kind to allow my husband a handicap flag, but due to the exteme spgginess of the course, we did not take advantage of driving on most fairways. People were very nice. Would recommend playing here (hopefully when it drys out)!

The course from Tee to Green is in excellent condition. The Greens are the best they have been in 10 years. The new superintendant has done an excellent job restoring the playing conditions to the good old days, when the US Open had their qualifiers here. Drainage is much improved, you have to try the course.
Right on and Solid
This course offers great value, has a friendly staff, and the greens are in great shape!
Slow Play
Beautiful course and very challenging. My only problem was the pace was so slow. They had overbooked and it made me stop after 9 holes.
palmer
Nice course. challenging greens and very scenic. the tee boxes were a little beat up, but the rest of the course was in fine condition
Great Day of Golf
Received GolfNow rate of $25 including cart. Great course condition. Challenging and Awesome value.
Not much I would change.
Great day overall. Humid but a nice ocean breeze at times. Great service: Holes had cold water and we were visited by the Drink cart several times.
Opposite of He... double hockey sticks
This course was in good shape with true rolling greens. Staff was nice and beverage cart came by several times. Some holes require a very accurate tee shot, and some are wide open. The Tips are long on quite a few holes so you need to be a long hitter to enjoy the tips. Just like the pro's it's all about FAIRWAYS.
Good round
Great conditions and well maintained course. Can be difficult if you do not find the fairway. Lot of sand on the front 9 and lot of water on the back 9. The starter was very friendly and so were the staff. Great value for money.
Fun course but you will need to hit it straight
Had a fun day playing this course for the first time. Keep the ball on the fairway and it isn't to hard to score well but the fairways are not real wide and when your not on the fairway good luck! I enjoyed this course and I will play it again. I would recomend this course to average to better players, it might be a bit to hard for a beginner to enjoy.
This course has some challenging holes.
The weather was very wet the day before my day at this course. I'm glad they let us play, it was cart path only. Too much rain turned it into a swamp, so pick a dry day. I'm sure its terrific when its dry
Can't quite put everything together
Greens and fairways in very good condition. Tees a disaster - saturated with water and no grass. It had rained a lot during the week but the condition of the tee boxes indicate a year-long problem. Too bad because the layout is really first rate. Played four other area courses and all had better tee box conditions in spite of the weather.
Excellent course
This was the first time I have ever played this course and I was blown away with how beautiful the course was. The course itself is on a nature preserve so there were a ton of trees and wildlife. Most of the fairways were very slim and the greens were kept in great shape.
The front nine was not too challenging, I ended up with par. The back nine was somewhat of a challenge. Overall I scored a 75, but the course really made me work for that!
Closest course to Sandbridge rentals
If you're staying at a Sandbridge rental you'll enjoy course. It's a short drive from your stay, the staff is friendly and attentive and the conditions are excellent.
Superb layout
Great course. Beautiful design with scenic woodlands, water and wildlife. Had a wonderful day with my family. I would play here again in a heartbeat. Only negative was that sand bunkers need a little work but that should be accomplished without to much effort.
