About
Located about an hour from both the Monterey Peninsula and the San Francisco Bay area is Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Gilroy, a city known as the "Garlic Capital of the World" and just east of Santa Cruz. Eagle Ridge's 18 holes of modern-designed championship golf are set amongst the oak forest foothills since it opened in 2000. The golf course features six sets of tee boxes, 92 bunkers, three lakes, seven creeks and also features many multi-tiered greens so it can play as challenging as golfers of any skill level would like. Eagle Ridge Golf Club also features full practice, restaurant and clubhouse facilities.

Beware, this is not a fun course
All hilly course with lots of amateur golfers, very slow pace of play. Back 9 have no room for error and even good shots will leave you bad lies. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

They fixed the traps. Now lots of sand.
Fast, true greens. Very good condition, just a couple of minimal grass lies in the fairway. They are right on top of improving things. New grass seeding of bare spots and punched areas that were too wet. Overall layout is an excellent challenge. I will go back any chance I get.

Eagle Ridge GC review
Fairly difficult course due to trap placement, some ,blind shots and extremely difficult to read greens. Fairway condition mediocre due to hard ground and short grass. Wonderful sand in traps, though. Staff friendly and helpful. Cart seats a bit worn but work well in this hilly course. A couple holes need better signs (some had none)!

The course has great potential
The course was in fair shape but needs a lot of work. The fairways were dry with a lot of brown patches, hole 17 was a mess with so many area’s under repair. Hole 12 fairway is shaved so close around the lake and the the fairway is sloped so severe into the lake that all shots short of the green run into the water. It would speed up play if the grass next to the lake be taller to at least catch some of the shots from the fairway.
I know this is extreme but they should have small signs around Every green saying Fix Your Ball Marks.. Almost EVERY Green was littered with ball divots, they were the worst I’ve ever seen.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, thank you for that. I’m hoping the course improves because I’d like to come back but not until it does.

Coming back!
Course has been renovated some since my last visit. Good work so far. 17 fairway is a mess but fertilized and planted so shouldn’t be long before it looks better. Overall course was pretty good. Some wet areas and ground under repair, probably due to trying to get a better grass coverage. Greens are decent but this may be the worst course I’ve ever played for un-repaired ball marks. Not the course’s fault but C’mon people, fix your ball marks. Please!!!!
Back nine, starting at 12 got pretty slow. Not terrible but annoying. 4:20 time of round. Didn’t see any Marshall’s helping things along. Might help?

Perfect Golf Weather 65F and no wind
The course was in much better shape than I expected it to be. I had read reviews about no sand in the bunkers, but there was plenty of fresh sand in all of them. A few brown spots in the fairways, but you can see that they are actively reseeding them. A couple of greens had quite a few divot marks and it could be time to punch them. Each hole on the course is quite unique and any of them would be signature holes at your local muni's. If you can hit your drive straight and stay below the hole, you should have a good round.

Muddy
Course doesn't drain well. It was cart path only, but when you walked out to your ball, you were walking in mud and water.
Basically, unplayable.

Excessive tee fee and cost of gas makes this course overly expensive.
