About
Located about an hour from both the Monterey Peninsula and the San Francisco Bay area is Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Gilroy, a city known as the "Garlic Capital of the World" and just east of Santa Cruz. Eagle Ridge's 18 holes of modern-designed championship golf are set amongst the oak forest foothills since it opened in 2000. The golf course features six sets of tee boxes, 92 bunkers, three lakes, seven creeks and also features many multi-tiered greens so it can play as challenging as golfers of any skill level would like. Eagle Ridge Golf Club also features full practice, restaurant and clubhouse facilities.

challenging
This course could be the mother of all challenges if the condition of the bunkers is improved - as they are currently. Thge back nine is a killer.... you MUST be straight and have a command of distances you hit each club.
Great Course If You Can Overlook Construction and Soggy Fairways
My first time playing here. I knew there would be some temporary greens, and I knew some bunkers would be under construction as well. What I didn't expect was how soggy the fairways and fringe would be, especially on the back 9. Very very wet, making the course play much longer and making it very hard to hit crisp irons and wedges. Greens in excellent shape, and very quick. I will return in the future and hopefully play a dryer, less handicapped version of this course than I played this week.

Family emergency
I had to cancel due to a family illness. I couldn't cancel via golf now app. My buddy asked if there was anything he could do for a refund. Said the guy was not very cool about it. I don't expect anything but customer service is Paramount in my book. There are nice ways to tell someone no dice! I do like the golf now app though.

This course is going to look good when they complete the renovation
I think they should’ve closed at least 9 holes to work on at a time instead they made couple of holes short and putting on the fairway.

Fun to play.
The course is in pretty good shape. They are redoing sand traps and greens. A few holes had temporary greens. Should be real nice when completed.

Bunker renovation
Eagle Ridge GC is terrible when it comes to bunkers. Fortunately, it has a chance to be very good going through bunker renovation now. I played a round with inconvenience of 4 rearranged holes. I am excited to see the completion of hopefully all bunker renovations. It can be very good course. Highly expecting....

Eagle Ridge Golf Course is completely Under Repair
Temporary Greens on at least 2 holes, All Bunkers are Under Repair, many sections of the Fairways are barren and dry. There are also many wet spots. I would not recommend playing here unless they significantly reduce the Rates. GolfNow should identify these conditions on their website.

Never again
I've played Eagle Ridge before and knew it would be a challenge. It's always hot in Gilroy in the summer and early fall and the course is relatively long, with a lot of forced carries. I don't like the way the course snakes its way through the gated community, but there are enough wooded holes to make it bearable. What I wasn't expecting was for the course to be under construction. It wasn't disclosed when I booked the round and the work was invasive. The 3rd hole had a temporary "green" that was just a circle painted on the grass. The sand traps on all but 2 holes were treated as ground under repair (beneficial to your score, perhaps, but traps are part of the game). A construction worker walked behind me during my backswing on 4, prompting a shank (yes, it's ultimately my fault, but still annoying). The bathroom in the club house was filthy. The piece de resistance was that they shook you down for an extra $10 for an individual cart, which is standard issue during Covid. Bottom line is that I'll never play this course again. Cinnabar and San Juan Oaks give you similar terrain and a much better overall experience if you're looking for golf in the Gilroy/Hollister area.

Possibly the worst ‘resort’ course in the Bay Area
Not sure where to begin. So much to cover. The staff checking you in like to belittle you ‘Did you see we are repairing our greens?’ ‘no’ ‘where did you book?’ ‘GolfNow’ ‘Surprised you didn’t know it was clearly written up on GolfNow’. Ok. What do you want me to say. I booked. I’m here to play. Just charge me and let’s get on with it. The course is in dreadful shape. The bunkers are just one aspect that have long been in terrible shape. About time they redid them. The course is thread bear. For some reason guests and members don’t want to repair their divots - I averaged fixing 6 divots per green. Greens are pretty beaten up. Extra vegetation growing among the grass. This course used to be fabulous. I could see why people wanted to buy a house in the community, but It would put me off now frankly. The pace of play was excruciatingly slow. So much so that by the time we got to 18 tee there were 5 groups on that one hole - even more concerning there were 3 x twosome and 2 x a threesome - who you would think would play at a reasonable pace . I only booked this course as this was all that was left. Clearly others feel the same way and are playing elsewhere. Time to plough it up and build more houses? Might be a blessing and not too soon. This downward spiral is unsustainable.

A hidden gem.
Almost every hole offers various risk/reward choices. The par 5s require careful placement off the tee to set up the second shot through narrow tree openings. The par 3s are varied, visually appealing, and challenging. I really enjoyed it..

Great track but in poor shape
I love the layout and design of this course. However, there is substantial maintenance taking place at this time. There were two temporary greens and they were largely unusable. The bunkers must be played as ground under repair. And many of the greens have significant scarring. With some love and time, this course will be one of the best in the area.

Several holes under construction. BEWARE
I have always enjoyed this course. I believe that this renovation will be awesome. It looks like they are making very good changes. However. They did not have the decency to pre-warn us that 3 straight holes are under construction. One is straight up closed. One is a crummy temp green par 3. And then the par 5 is broken into a short par 4, and a par 3. Add in the problem they have with their sprinkler system and this course is probably a skip for now. Sorry Eagle Ridge, you will have my business in the future, but you really upset me by not warning your patrons ahead of time

A group of friends and I, between 16 to 20, have been traveling to various courses in the Bay and South Bay Area to play them during these unusual times. We tried Eagle Ridge for the first time on August 24th and enjoyed ourselves and so decided to return on Labor Day. It’s a beautiful and interesting course and can be a bit challenging, however, with the bunkers under repair currently allowing for a free drop, it makes for an enjoyable round.
Evan and the staff were friendly and provided excellent customer service and we have now added Eagle Ridge to our repertoire of courses to play.
