The course layout was very fun, with interesting holes that never felt repetitive. There was a good mix of challenging holes and some shorter scoreable holes. You still have to make good shots as the greens are challenging with multiple tiers but in great condition. Approach shots are key. Pace of play was pretty standard for a busy Saturday. My only complaint were the course conditions, too many holes with muddy, soggy fairways that ate clubs on contact. The bunkers are being played as ground under repair as they replace the sand so I give them a pass on those conditions. This course would be much more difficult with in-play bunkers.
Eagle Ridge Golf
Great track that’s fun to play, some of the fairways were a little ruff and the bunkers were also pretty bad. Greens were great very nice. They are working on the bunkers but it will be a while before they are in good shape.
Good course, poor sand trsps
Good course. Fast play. Most traps are not maintained. That's a shame.
Eagle Ridge, Gilroy, Ca
Love the lay out but the tons of sand traps don’t have sand and it has been like that for years. I don’t play it often but they were the same the last time I played it they were the same. The greens were well groomed but very slow for a coarse like that I thought they should be way faster but maybe the members like them I didn’t. Fairways and rough were great very fair. If they speed up the greens ( and not much but need to be ) and put real sand it would be worth the money but would never pay full price as it sits!
Eagle Ridge does not soar
What a disappointment. The course conditions from tee to green were beyond horrible. Tee boxes were uneven. Greens were riddled with fungus. Fairways were overwatered and often had water spots in the middle of summer no less! And the bunkers? Ground under repair; every single one of them.
The amenities? I ordered the breakfast burrito to only find out that they microwaved the meals as opposed to cooking up a new one. The cart girl cake around on he 15th hole when we were nearly done. Such a disappointment. As a PSA, save your money and go elsewhere.
Great course, bunkers?
Very challenging course in good shape other than bunkers which have been out of repair for over a year!
Great place to play
Had a blast. Put together a group of 8 and came in from out of town. It was really a special day and I look forward to playing again.
Bunkers
Course is in good shape and the bunkers are getting redone
Nice Course/Good Value on GolfNow
Most everything about the course is enjoyable. The layout offers good variety of length, elevation change, non-parallel holes, left-to-right, right-to-left, etc... Tees/fairways/greens are all in good shape. They're finally working on the traps which will bring this course back into excellence.
Amazing course a lot of challenges...
Really nice course ,amazing views...
And really top holes ...
Excellent...
Coming Back
Eagle Ridge was a very nice surprise. As expected, the Jack Nicklaus course design requires shot making...there's plenty of trouble on this course for any errant shot. They are reworking the bunkers which will take about a year to complete (they're played as GUR) ....The tee boxes and greens were in great shape. Tee it up and enjoy....

Probably Closing Soon
Pretty brutal day out on this golf course. I remember 10 years ago this was one of the nicest courses in the area. Now it's in very mediocre shape. The tee boxes were quite furry. Fairways and greens were in decent shape. The bunkers were a mess. So bad that the pro shop told us it's best not to play out of them and just take a free drop where you entered the bunker. They are apparently taking out more bunkers(they've done this before) and are reshaping the remaining bunkers. When I asked why they said it costs too much to maintain the bunkers. Couple this with the fact that I used to pay well over $100 to play this course on a weekend/holiday and it leads me to believe that this course is struggling mightily. They've completely abandoned the Johnny Miller design and consistently make the course worse. I think they hope these changes are going to help business but it's only going to hurt. There is a good chance this is the last round I ever play at Eagle Ridge and I'm fully expecting the course to shut down and become houses in short order. Sad to see what has happened to a once beautiful golf course and facility.
Outside of the course the first golf cart were given had a nail in the tire and the tire went flat. Had to swap it out at the turn. We hit the turn at 12:30pm and the girl running the snack bar didn't even have the grill going yet on a holiday!!! She fired it up and then proceeded to serve us lukewarm polish sausages that were still cold in the center. Our experience should serve as an absolute embarrassment to the management team as I'm sure they will be losing their jobs soon anyways.
Great and Challenging Course
This is a fun yet challenging course to play with all the amenities.
Rare back nine start, very high pollen count....achoo
A perfect weather to play. First ever start on the back nine due to several corporate outings which made for a slower pace of play. Stay away from the bunkers because they are in terrible shape. The wind was blowing right which allowed me to make the greens in regulation on most holes. The greens were in good shape. Some kind of event at the clubhouse which made the place busy. Nicely designed course with plenty of challenge for the intermediate golfer.
Thanks for you nice review. I look forward to seeing you back here soon. Thank you, Evan Boone (Head Pro)
