Needs Work
Have been playing this course for many years. It went through a bad period when the sand traps were terrible so I stayed away. The traps got fixed so I came back. Then many fairways were dried out and bare. The clubhouse used to be a nice spot to grab a lunch and beer after the round. No more. No stools at the bar. Food is terrible. The bathroom after the 4th hole is a pig stye. On many tee boxes it was hard to get a peg in the cement like ground. The 4th tee box had what appeared to be a fine gravely material spread throughout. There is no acceptable chipping practice area, just weeds. For what they're charging I won't be back until it improves.
Nice Course but beat up.
It's a fun track. Super challenging layout. Unfortunately it's all beat up. Weeds growing out of the greens, bare sand patches in the fairway. Golf is hard enough without that.
Didn't Play
I arrived at the clubhouse to check in and the person claimed I didn't have a tee time... I did not bring my laptop with the reservation number (Golfnow 401086708) (course 600841856) but told her I made it through Golfnow. She claimed there were no tee time with my name so I left... I DID NOT PLAY!!! I would like to be reimbursed the charge from Golfnow
Great variety and challenging
The course has a great variety of holes. Widening its way through some nice homes. Each hole is quite different from the last. The course includes more than the usual elevational changes and sand traps. Multiple fairways require you to lay up to avoid hazards or to find a space to hit through openings in the trees. Several doglegs and occasional trees in the fairway. This course is probably not for the average golfer. Although some of the views make higher scores worth it.
I would highly recommend this course if you enjoy being challenged.
Saturated and bald
Very wet, lots of bare spots on the fairways. Weeds and other foreign vegetation everywhere. Not what it used to be.
Great Day, But A Little Slow
It was a great day overall, but the pace of play was pretty slow.
Single line irrigation
Eagle Ridge is a phenomenal Track but in Mediocre condition. It's my recommendation that ER partner with the city of gilroy and transition to a desert style naturalist golf course with a Single line targeted irrigation system that can substantially shrink the irrigation footprint of the golf course. By transitioning to a naturalist style golf course, ER will save the City water while simultaneously allowing the maintenance staff to MANICURE a smaller portion of the golf course and give Eagle ridge a chance to compete with Coyote creek and Cinnabar hills for members.
