About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 09/2019.
Nestled at the base of Mount Diablo, Deer Ridge Golf Club wanders through rolling, oak-dappled hills. The course has several challenging holes but the hazards are balanced by more player-friendly elements like wide, forgiving fairways and generous greens. There is also plenty of room off the tees and at just over 6,300 yards it is a manageable length as well. Though it is gentle enough for beginners, the thoughtful routing and hilly terrain keep it interesting for low handicappers. Deer Ridge Golf Club's front nine is more open and slightly less difficult, but the back nine gets a little trickier with more trees and more dramatic elevation changes coming into play. The terrain gives each hole a unique character and different challenges. The wind can also be a major factor. Good course management will be well rewarded.

Great Value for the $
did read the reviews before playing and the negative was there was not much sand in the traps, but the upside is that on two traps I was able to bounce thru and over and pick up another 20 yards on my drive....Great value for the $
Great bang for your buck at Deer Ridge
Deer Ridge is a quirky , little (6300 from the blacks) course and fun to play. It is in good condition and typically the pace of play is great. The best thing is the amazing bang for your buck you get here. I played for about a dollar a hole with cart included. There are 4 courses within a couple of miles and that competition keeps prices way down. Give it a try.
Great calue
One of East Bay's best golf values
Slow Pace
They have 2 courses but only keep 1 open so play becomes very slow with chances of losing more players. Many courses in the area offer great options too. The sand traps are very hard, no real sand or proper drainage. The gal in the kitchen was very pleasant and helpful.
Happy 4TH
Great layout. Challenging but fair, make sure you play from the tees that match your game.
Ok for the price
The layout is great. The course needs water, not in the bunkers. Complete ponds & mud in the bunkers. Once finished, could not locate the snack bar person for a cold one on one of the hottest days of the year. Also, the GM should not permit tank tops & cut off jeans on the course. It's not a good look !!
Excellent, inexpensive course
Played around noon on a Tuesday. Few players, so pace of play was excellent. Course is not long, but layout and greens, and the gusty wind, made it challenging from the blue and black tee boxes. Sand traps need more sand, and a few small fairway areas are GUR. Overall, the course is in excellent shape; I'll likely play it again soon.
eternity
The starter was the best thing about this course. Besides it taking 6 hours to play, yes you read right 6 HOURSS, we didn't see the beverage cart ever. The snack bar was closed at the turn, we started at 12:30. No driving range either, I won't be back!!!
over booked
never seen this golf course over crowed every hole there was a waiting time of 20 min or more took me 6hr and 27min to finish the 18 hole .
Will be great !!!
Played the Saturday after they plugged greens on Monday. Was not too bad considering !!! Is going to be in great shape when greens heal !!
where is the marshall??????
Played this course 3 times in the last month and like the course. Greens are a bit tough, fast and hard to read. Good value for the money but,,,, course marshals are needed. Play was very slow and the idiot in the group ahead or us was playing 2 balls all day. Did not see a single marshal nor did we see a beverage cart, and it was hot.
Teed off before 9 am sunday and course already slow. Would have been easily rectified with a MARSHAL,,,
Deer Ridge
Cart person would be great
decent course, will play again
This course is my second favorite in the area. I always enjoy playing here. Everything is in relatively good shape. They must roll the greens often because they're always flat and run pretty true. The only downsides to this course are no driving range, and there's one part three that is only 110 yards. I feel that's too short to have on a full course. It seems like something you would see on the nine hole municipal.
Great value
I enjoy this course very, very much. I love the layout and the challenge is good. The back nine is beautiful.
OK at a good price
Was a member here last year. Course is in fair condition, round took exactly 4 hours. Nothing inspiring or special, but for $15.00, what do you expect?
A great challenging course
I really enjoy playing this course whenever I get the chance. It is well maintained, the speed of the greens are consistent and beautiful vistas.
Great course for great deal
Great course for great deal! Need to be precise off the tee. Pins in tough locations. Only negative was bunkers, lack of sand and hard underneath.
shot maker course
good course when you need to place shots.
GolfNow price good but 3.49 service charge is to high
Course is in good shape
Course was in very good shape. Greens were smooth and quick. Fairways were green. Rough wasn't to bad. Good value for the money. Pace of play could be better, there's a few choke points on the course that cause back ups. On grief was the horrendous pin placements for the day. Each pin was on a ridge 5-8 feet from the edge of the green. On multiple occasions we would putt the ball up a hill to the hole and if you didn't sink it, the ball would role 10-12 feet back down to where you were standing. That kind of ruined it. But as long as you get out there with appropriate pin locations you should be set.
Deer Ridge
Pro: The course was in great shape and challenging but fair for a golfer of my ability.
Con: I didn't see any deer
