Nestled at the base of Mount Diablo, Deer Ridge Golf Club wanders through rolling, oak-dappled hills. The course has several challenging holes but the hazards are balanced by more player-friendly elements like wide, forgiving fairways and generous greens. There is also plenty of room off the tees and at just over 6,300 yards it is a manageable length as well. Though it is gentle enough for beginners, the thoughtful routing and hilly terrain keep it interesting for low handicappers. Deer Ridge Golf Club's front nine is more open and slightly less difficult, but the back nine gets a little trickier with more trees and more dramatic elevation changes coming into play. The terrain gives each hole a unique character and different challenges. The wind can also be a major factor. Good course management will be well rewarded.

Golf at Deer Ridge
Great course....#10 is getting better.
Roughs are forget it. Ball lost.
Overall, course good.
Out of the four Brentwood courses it offers the most variety of play.
This course played very slow
We quit playing after completing 15 holes in four hours and we passed 7 groups on the way in to the clubhouse.
Fun
Beautiful day and course was in very good condition. Pace was good. What more can you ask for?
Excellent
Couldn't really judge course fully as it rained he night before and it was a little "soupy". But considering that, the course was well maintained. Very tough course. Not very long but you need to know your angles coming into greens. The price was awesome for what you get. I will return to this course soon, especially when there is better weather
Great Value
Got an extremely good rate for an 11:30 tee time. Carts allowed on course even though it had rained a lot over the last few days. No one in front of us, probably because more rain was expected by 3:00 p.m.
Fives
Several groups with five members playing made for long delays. Greens were fast and true. Fairways good shape for this time of year. Played front twice because of pace of play with club house permission. Still love this course.
nice track
greens were excellent, good speed and consistent around the course. Fairways, however, had quite a few barren dirt spots. They should be marked as GUP.
Deer Ridge Golf in Brentwood, CA
I love playing at Deer Ridge. It's always in great shape, even after heavy rain. The one drawback is that there are a lot more golfers now than just a month ago because their sister course, Shadow Lakes, recently closed until April. So Deer Ridge is getting more crowded & play is slowing down. Still a great course & value!
Really Fun Course, Incredible Value
When checking out rates I was skeptical because it was only $32. My husband and I were visiting the area and decided to play with limited expectations. We were amazed on how nice of an experience and course it is. The views are beautiful, the greens were excellent, staff was nice and overall it was a great day. We also tried renting a speaker to enjoy music while we played and loved it, made the round even more fun and may be the reason I shot one of my lowest rounds.
Thanksgiving weekend golf
Over all course was in good shape for late November, only poor area was the bunkers were rock hard....needed maintenance.
Overall in good condition
The course overall is in good condition. The greens are in good condition. No major brown spots, the day I played they were firm and moderately fast, well cut. The fairways were fair, there were some brown spots, and rough was well maintained. Considering we are entering winter months. I was pleased how the course played.
Great course to golf on
This is one of the nicest golf courses I've golfed on if not the the best. Recommend this course to everyone.
Deer ridge
Greens were great. Pace was really slow! Club house all locked up at 4:00, couldn't even use the rest room or drink a beer.
Most forgiving of the 4 nearby courses & very friendly
Deer Ridge is the shortest and most forgiving of the 4 nearby courses, even though there are a few challenging holes. The greens are always in good condition. In spite of the drought, the tee boxes and fairways are in better shape than they were 1 month ago. The staff is always very friendly. Like the other nearby courses, the sand traps could use a little work. Sand was compacted and it was difficuilt to get a club under the ball. Pace of play was good and marshall was out twice to monitor groups ahead of us.
Great course to play anytime
Always enjoy playing this course course condition improves every time I've been there. Nice
Met a good guy
Had a great day of golf. Got paired with a very nice man. We had a great day other than a slow back nine. Will come back!
great course for all playing ability
deer Ridge is wide open with few trees and lots of fairway courses maintained pretty well great value for the dollar
Pace pace PACE
4 groups backed up on #1 tee. That's a bad indication that they have booked too many people on the course. 3 deep on the 3rd hole and 3 deep on the 2nd hole. Fortunately I saw this before I teed off. Asked for a free round on another day, which they gave me. I live on the 12th hole and noticed my group come by 4 hours after tee time. Looked like a 6 hour round.
Slow back nine due to 9 holer play allowed
We started at 7:15 and after the turn ran into three groups of very slow beginner foursomes of women golfers. We do not think the course should allow these type of groups to slow up early 18 hole starters especially on a Friday. Our twosome had to skip three holes to escape an undue wait on each hole starting on the 13 the hole.
