Nestled at the base of Mount Diablo, Deer Ridge Golf Club wanders through rolling, oak-dappled hills. The course has several challenging holes but the hazards are balanced by more player-friendly elements like wide, forgiving fairways and generous greens. There is also plenty of room off the tees and at just over 6,300 yards it is a manageable length as well. Though it is gentle enough for beginners, the thoughtful routing and hilly terrain keep it interesting for low handicappers. Deer Ridge Golf Club's front nine is more open and slightly less difficult, but the back nine gets a little trickier with more trees and more dramatic elevation changes coming into play. The terrain gives each hole a unique character and different challenges. The wind can also be a major factor. Good course management will be well rewarded.

It was an awesome day!
I played Deer Ridge for the first time last weekend and my whole group was very surprised at how spectacular the golf course is. The overall lay out is very scenic and the conditions are magnificent. The greens were really fast and pure. I brought out 8 guys and we played so fast they offered us a special to play Shadow Lakes and loved it. This is going to be a regular thing!!
Good for the money
Need a driving range, some areas have no cart access don't know why? Can make the green a bit faster like the shadow lakes golf course. Good vourse lay out fairways are im great conditions. Worth playing .
Good Day
First time playing here in a year. Paid $36 which should be the normal price. The greens were still mending from aeration. The usual cost is $60 which makes me play elsewhere. My son and I got paired with two nice fellows and we played in four hours. Marshal approached us on the 15th hole implying that we we were spraying the greens with sunflower seeds. He wasn't very pleasant about it.
Bit of a drive but a bargain the same
This is a great course and have enjoyed it many times, but they had just airated the greens and sanded them pretty heavy and never said anything about that when booking the tee time or I would have booked somewhere else.None the less it was still fun and and we were almost the only ones playing which is strange on a saturday. So all in all it was still a fun time, just green speed was very hard to figure and break since sand obstructs that alot.
Sanded Greens
A little notice the greens were just sanded would have been nice. Management should consider repainting the wood markers out on the course, makes the course look tired and run down.
Nice
One of the nicest golf courses in Brentwood . Would definitely recommend to play
Staff was rude
Checked in after booking on golf now. Didn't save my confirmation and when I told the person checking us in the price ($32.00) he laughed and said no way! Had to call golf now to re-send the confirmation, at which time the clerk became rude over the price we paid.
To many friggen people
Too 3:15 hours to play the front nine. Only 2 hrs to play the back. Had to many people on the course at 12 noon. Beer cart girl was making some bucks
full course
I had out of town guest and signed up to play at 10:40 in the morning. When we arrived at the course there were no carts available due to a tournment that was going on. We were late getting out and getting back home to our dinner reservations. I have never had a problem with golf now but I wish I would have been informed about the course being full. I don't think I will book any more tee times without calling the course first.
Nice course, very very slow pace
Played 8/31. The course itself is in excellent shape, especially considering the drought. The greens were very difficult, and some were bumpy due to players not fixing the ball marks. The wind was a factor most of the day. We had a 12:34 tee time, and started about 20 minutes late. They had ran out of carts and would only start us as the carts became available. They talked me out of walking. Good thing. Although we started with a completely empty hole 1, we caught the next group on the second hole as they were waiting to tee off. The entire round was spent waiting, sometimes two foursomes deep, to play. Very Frustrating.
On the bright side, this is a beautiful course. Only 2 complaints. 1) the greens could have been a lot better, come on players, fix your marks! and 2) the sand was more like dirt on hardpan.
I will play this course again, but not on a crowded Sunday afternoon.
golf is fun
I like playing this course , like the set up very challenging
fun to play
used scorecard layout to navigate the course, fun to play, greens ok, repairing ball marks on almost every green, awesome job on water coolers on the course, filled, cold and needed, can get hot and dry out there.
the course is nice
The only problem I had was they didn't have my tee time from golfnow and we had to wait for an hour to tee off. That was the second time it happen to me in three weeks.
Fix your ball mark!
The course is very good. However, it seems no one repairs the marks on the greens. Also Golfnow and the course need to get on the same page. Tired of booking times to find out the time does not exist.
Great cousre with a special offer
The golf course is real good. Even better at a discounted rate. Drove in form the bay area to play for a early morning start and moved right along!!!
Good Time at Deer Ridge
We played this past Sunday morning at 7:30 and finished in 4 hours. No waiting and pace of play was excellent, even though it took time for us to navigate certain holes. The greens had dew on them at the start but by the time we hit the back nine, it was a new experience putting on the fast surface. We enjoyed our time and recommend it. As an aside, go to lunch at Vic Steward's on the way out, it is fabulous.
The course layout is golfer friendly.
Range markers are not easily found. Suggest to install stake markers.
Get there early and you have a good chance getting off early, which is really great.
Had a great round,no one in front playing slow no one behind pushing or hitting into us. Played about Four hour round didn't lose but one ball. Greens in great shape, fairways good also even with water shortage.
