Nestled at the base of Mount Diablo, Deer Ridge Golf Club wanders through rolling, oak-dappled hills. The course has several challenging holes but the hazards are balanced by more player-friendly elements like wide, forgiving fairways and generous greens. There is also plenty of room off the tees and at just over 6,300 yards it is a manageable length as well. Though it is gentle enough for beginners, the thoughtful routing and hilly terrain keep it interesting for low handicappers. Deer Ridge Golf Club's front nine is more open and slightly less difficult, but the back nine gets a little trickier with more trees and more dramatic elevation changes coming into play. The terrain gives each hole a unique character and different challenges. The wind can also be a major factor. Good course management will be well rewarded.

Best Course in 20 mile radius
My son, friends and I always love a day at Deer Ridge; never disappoints. The only drawback was the greens had been sanded. But; as usual, the course was in great shape. Definitely one of our favorite courses in the area.
midway between friends the valley and the bay
This whole Delta area has several nice courses all within a few minutes of one another. Deer Ridge with many holes that make you think. I asked the pro for one tip, he said, don't hit your driver on every hole, pick your targets and that what made it fun. Good condition, greens were in fair condition. We caught an early tee time and had no wind, a perfect day. My tip, there are a lot of bunkers; the bunkers don't have a lot of sand in them and a clay bottom. if you play them with a flatter angle you will bounce off the clay and hit it thin. We will play here again.
Great Day on the course with my son
Met 2 great individuals and really enjoyed playing with them. The greens were firm and fast but in perfect conditions. The greenskeeper needs to understand that on a Sunday there is no need to place the cups in a tournament position. This only makes the round longer for all of us. Also they need to get more keys for the carts. Waited 15 minutes to get a key to load up our clubs. Only saw the Marshall once and the foursome in front of us had the whole course open in front of them.
best course in Brentwood/Delta
Great shape-quick greens-marshall kept pace of play-greens held well-fairways rolled-could use more sand in bunkers
Always in great shape
From the time you check in, you are treated as a valued customer. Always feel welcome.
The golf course is in great shape, the greens are true and in good condition.
Always fun to play Deer Ridge.
Easy course and well maintained fairway and green
Too many people to play during the holiday. It is a relatively easy course and should be done playing in less than 4 hours and end up more than 5 hours.
not a country club
not sure why they call it country club. its not the best course in the area. but chargers players like it is. its not disco bay or oakhurst. still a nice course. good sand. cool lay out and views on the back side. i like the course and would play it more but they never have any deals. maybe they don't want play. young guy named blake in the pro shop was friendly and professional
good for GolfNow discount price
We got a GolfNow Hit Deal and played Saturday morning for $40. For that price the course is definitely worth it.
The course itself is fine. The issue was with the conditions. There were many areas in fairways where there was dead grass/hardpan. These areas need to be marked as ground under repair. Would nit want to play a tournament in that situation. The tees needed mowing as well. Greens were fine though. With a little attention to detail this is a very nice course, but ad it currently is I would not pay the standard $65 to play.
Challenging layout for shorter course
I enjoy the challenge this layout provides. If they could put some effort into reducing the pace of play, it would be so much more enjoyable. Spread out tee-times, have course rangers monitor slow play, offer incentives for keeping up are just a few suggestions.
This place has gone downhill over the years.
This course used to be one of my favorite places to play in the bay area when it first opened, but sadly it has gone downhill and I won't be going back any time soon. The fairways are trashed, there's no sand in the bunkers and the tee boxes are all chewed up. The only saving grace was the greens; they were in decent shape. Many times I had to bump my ball in the middle of the fairway just to get a decent lie. And in the bunkers I would have to rake up a pile of sand and put my ball on that in order not to skull it. The 10th fairway was a swamp in the middle of this California drought...what's up with that? Is there an underground spring or something? It never used to be like this but it has definitely faded over the last couple of years. Time to find a new place to play.
Not good
Fairways and cup locations were horrible. Much better course on the ranch...
Very enjoyable course
This is a very enjoyable course to play. It has its challenges but its not overly difficult. The greens are excellent and the course is always in great shape. Only negative is no driving range. They have practice area for pitching/chipping and of course putting greens. I would definitely recommend this course to a friend.
6+ hr round .. No problem, come on in, we'll take your money
This was my 5th time playing Deer Ridge as I like the layout. Four of the five rounds have been very slow pace of play. This last round was glacial and I won't be back. Four groups on the second and third tee made our decision to leave easy .. But even through they had no carts available (rack em, stack em and pack em out on the course) they were still taking money and talking just slight delays to the unsuspecting guests as we were leaving .. The greed and reputation of slow play will bite them in the long run.
Deer ridge
It's a fairly short course and lots of 3 wood tee shots for me
Greens were extremely sandy. Undulations in fairway call for many
uneven stances. Most approaches are critical as few holes allow for stingers to run to the green. Biggest issue. 12pm on Thursday maintenance guys sitting in equipment idling waiting for you to finish. That's annoying.
One the best courses we have in the area!
Deer Ridge is a real gem, especially for us "senior" golfers. While the holes are all challenging, they are more than fair for play – being able to actually get on par 4's in two is great thing for those of us who are loosing distance on our drives.
The bent grass greens are fantastic to putt, and roll true and fast.
I always look forward to my rounds here, and will be on the anticipating the next email offer for the super discounted afternoon rate
A good, well-maintained course
We played off the white tees. This was good for us because we have a handicap >15, and enjoy a short course (about 5300 yards). The tips play at about 6600 yards.
A great course for most golfers.
Good moderate course
Good course. I played the blue tees and thought the course played a little long. So you need a good long second shot to shoot a low score. Greens are fast on the front and a little bit slower on the back. There is no driving range which is strange because one could have been put in between the club house and the 10th green. I was not impressed with the club house either. Considering how new this course is they could have done a better job designing the amenities. All the staff were friendly however I found it strange in this day and age that one of the cart guys was at the front door smoking a cigarette. I am not a prude, just thought it was funny. So don't go expecting a sophisticated experiance.
good value on the wknd
Played on a Sunday, teed off at 9:20 - done in less than 4h. Ranger came around regularly. Course will penalize you for mishits, but rewards shots in the fairways. Greens rolled pretty good for this time of year. Short par 4's can be had for birdies. With this layout, chances are you'll hit every club in your bag, especially if the wind is blowing. I'll be back to play it again.
greens excellent condition
Play in late morning slow course conditions were in great shape overall sand traps were hard packed.
great course and excellent conditions
didnt serve food, everything else was great. greens were outstanding
