Honey Bee Golf Club
About
Nestled in the heart of Virginia Beach, Honey Bee Golf Club is one of the area's most popular daily-fee golfing venues. Rees Jones designed the course, incorporating water on 10 holes as well as intricate bunkering throughout. The challenging layout has several tricky doglegs and some treacherous blind shots as well. It's a golf course that demands careful course management and some strategic thinking. Accurate shot placement is also key when maneuvering the rolling fairways and contoured greens. While it's by no means an easy golf course, it is an enjoyable round for players of all skill levels, making it a popular venue for tournaments and corporate outings. For golfers looking to get an entire day of golf in, Honey Bee's sister club, Stumpy Lake, is only about half a mile away.

ENTER THE BEE HIVE!!
I try and play this course a couple of times a year. With many to choose from in Hampton Roads, it’s one of my 3 favorites. On today’s play I did find 2-3 greens that were “suffering” but overall, the course is great. I look forward to the next round….
Honey Bee Golf Course
Played on July 4th. Was expecting very slow play. Honeybee has been famous for this. Play was pretty fluid until the last few holes. New manager has set up 9 instead of 7 minute tee time gaps. This is helping. I suggest a marshall moving throughout the course to encourage proper pace There was no cart person which, on this hot day , would have been great. Don’t think I’ve seen the fairways this nice and I have been going there 20+ years.
Pace of play can get really bad here, especially on weekends. Course and layout is fine for a muni . Over 6 hours for 18 holes of play is too much for me though .
Nice day
Had a great time yesterday and plan on definitely playing that golf course again
SLOW!!!!!!
Please bare with me as i have plenty of time to write this as I'm sitting on the 11th tee box waiting for two groups in front of us to tee off. We are 3:10 into our round. Averaging 19 minutes a hole. We arrived 35 minutes in advance of our tee time. We were told they were 30 minutes behind schedule. Funny part is I checked Golfnow.com and they still had 3 foursome tee times available within the time before our tee time, so they obviously and greedily over booked the course. Not only did their clubhouse drop the ball with tee times, they didn't have golf carts for the groups checking in and not enough staff to even collect range balls to allow golfers to warm up. This is by far THE most poorly managed course I've ever played. This is a common theme with this course and it's reputation holds the same trend. I recommend anyone trying to play here to save your money and go to Stumpy Lake down the road. I will never be back to Honey Bee again. Not even to use the range token they sold me knowing the range was out of commission.
I just left after 3:25 of play after waiting 10 more minutes on the 12th tee. Spent a total of 3:41 minutes from the scheduled start time of our round. Unacceptable. 6 hour pace is inexcusable.
Tee times too close
Great course for the area and friendly staff. Practice section is nice and so are the conditions right now. However, they are constantly slamming tee times together and there are always random leagues and things going on that they do not disclose to Golffnow. Multiple times I have showed up and already paid and they tell me it is front 9 twice. Most recently I showed up at my tee time and there were 12 people at the tee box waiting to tee off coming off hole 9 and trying to start. TLDR great course, a little pricey but they need to space out tee times better. One of the worst pace of play courses in the area
Just rained
Played the course with my sons a day after raining and was in great shape. No puddles at all. Highly recommend
