Work in progress

The course is trying and conditions seem to be improving. Golfers are not helping. They do not fill divots, fix ball marks and drive the carts where ever they want. I saw carts beyond the ropes, driving next to greens and other areas they were not supposed to be in. Golfers complain but do not do their part to help the course heal. Go to the range any day and there will be several people hitting balls outside of the mark area. The other areas of the range cannot recover if it is not given time.

Greens were great,

tees and fairways were in sad shape. We played preferred lies and the round was good.

No way to play them down.

Good golf track

Victoria Hills certainly had its heyday back when Troon managed it. Challenging course but some fairways barely had any grass on them. They charge accordingly. Great holes but just ok shape.

Terrible

Course is in terrible shape. Driving range is just sand. People in pro shop are very rude. No grass in the fairways to hit off of. Tee boxes were dirt or sand. Greens were okay. Not worth $45 from the hot deal and definitely would never pay full price to play here.

Needs investment

An excellent layout with challenging holes however the course requires considerable investment to recover fairways which are sparse with patchy grass areas. Lots of fairway bunkers.

I will say, the greens were fine. I don't know how you can get the greens so good and the fairways were absolutely atrocious. Hard to find any grass. I really like this course layout, but the fairway conditions make it hard to return.

Wheres the turf

Victoria Hills is a picturesque layout. A bit of elevation and undulation make for a nice time on the course. Turf conditions are very poor. Greens are in average condition. Rates should peak out at $40-$50.00

Getting Better

Victoria Hills was a really nice course 15 years ago. It deteriorated to fairly poor condition about 2-3 years ago. It looks like they have a new greenskeeper. It is much better than it was a few years ago. The greens are nice. The fairways are okay (they could use more water). For the money, it's a fair deal. I will play there again.
