The Eagles Golf Club - Forest
About
Designed by Ron Garl and Gary Koch, the Forest Course at The Eagles Golf Club features the signature island-green sixth hole which rivals the famous 17th hole at the TPC at Sawgrass. The two outstanding championship courses at The Eagles Golf Club are kept in "tournament condition" year-round. As its name implies, much of Forest course winds through an impressive pine forest.

There are better choices
I've enjoyed playing the Forest course at The Eagles for the past 10+ years. However, the carts are really starting to show their age and haven't been updated with a GPS screen. The Tee boxes were in decent shape, and the fairways were OK for this time of year in Florida. The greens were borderline unplayable due to the length of the grass. They hadn't been cut in days so they were nearly impossible to putt on. To call them slow would be an understatement. The only bathroom at the "turn" was locked, so the only option was to use the woods, drive all the way back to the clubhouse, or hold it like the lady in our foursome had to do. The pace of play was over 5 hours, not due to it being crowded, but one or two slow foursomes slowed down play for the entire course. The beverage cart was a big positive with cheerful service and decent prices. Overall, for $90 there are much better options within 30 minutes of this course.
Good value
Some fairways lack grass and some greens are patchy, but a good deal especially this time of year
Love the layout
I have always loved the layout of this course. It’s not in the pristine condition it was 15 years ago but was not horrible. Still a lot of hurricane debris along the wooded areas but I am sure it will take a little time. Also, it was a ghost town. I felt like we had the whole course to ourselves. It was fun. My son and I enjoyed it.
Getting better, not there yet....
Friends told me the Eagles was improving so I went . After the round I wish I had played some where else. They do not appear to have cut the rough since the hurricane 2 weeks ago. Lost balls in almost any area of rough. They have not really cleaned up the storm debris, trees, sticks and leaves are littered on every hole. Other courses in the area in much better shape.
We greatly enjoyed our round on the Forest course! The grounds crew team(s) should be commended and given an A+ for the shape and condition of the course so soon after two major storms. The young girl (I believe her name was Sarah) was very pleasant and accommodating as well as very, it was a pleasure dealing with her.
It had been about 12 years since our foursome last had the opportunity to play at the Eagles, and your renovations are very well done! Unfortunately the course has matured as much as we have and unfortunately what we recalled as to how we use to play some of the holes has now exceeded our skills!
Great day with great friends and your teams helped make it even better! Big Thank you!
Needs work
Most of the fairways were in decent shape, and the greens we average. The rough is a disaster and looks like it hasnt been mowed in weeks. Shots just off the green nestled down into 4-5 inches of rough, and you literally had to be standing over it to find it. This course gets a lot of rain and doesnt always drain well, so I can understand there might be some places they couldnt mow. Not sure I'd go back unless it was for a discounted rate.
Poor Value
I understand it has rained every day lately. Many holes were a swamp. We lost a half dozen balls in the fairway or the rough. Not a single trap had been raked for many days...complete hardpan. I've played this course many times before, but for this price, in this condition, it's just a bad value. Now I understand why the course was not busy on a Sunday at 11am. We won't be back until later in the fall.
Beautiful course
Son and I played 18. Nice course and spotted around 15 deer during the round.
First time at the Eagle
For the money, this is hard to beat. The Forrest course was nice, but swampy due to the rain. We saw plenty of deers throughout the day, and it felt like a nature getaway. Course was decent, and had a few long par 5 which I enjoyed. Definitely great value for the money.
Overpriced and overrated
I’m new to golf. I will play anywhere at any time. This is the first time I’ve ever written a review. I was warned by my friends how the place has gone so far down hill and I didn’t listen because I figured they were being dramatic. The course was in terrible condition, pace of play took over 5 hours, and I paid $80+ for the round. I would have been better off going to a local muni. Not going back.
