The Eagles Golf Club - Lakes

Eagles is one of the better public options around. It is priced right for the area. There are many sub standard public courses around, so it is nice to have these two tracks nearby in Tampa. Both courses had new greens a while back and Forest is starting to show signs of wear. Lakes is a tougher layout but greens are nicer. Mostly houses to look at though. There is grass on the fairway and sand in the traps, which is more than can be said for many places around the area. And the bar/restaurant has good food and beer.

This course has a very friendly staff and conditions are always good to great. The greens are manicured nicely, along with the fairways. Overall a real good experience, as usual.

Solid course, very friendly employees, great conditions, nice pace, will play again

This was a repeat play for me. Played a few weeks ago. What I find pleasantly challenging for me is from the blue tees you must place the tee shot with the driver or take the consequences of going through the fairways due to the slight doglegs. Otherwise, as i did, hit 3-woods off the tee for position, even on par 5's #1 and #10. Fairways are little dry so the ball does not sit up well. Greens are new so approach shots do not check as well at this time.

The course has a nice layout---lots of doglegs and water. For long hitters, must play at least blue tees and sometimes 3-wood off the tee is best shot. Greens are firm so watch for run out when chipping. Putting is true as greens are great. Fairways are thin; ball not sitting up but very acceptable. Bunkers are good and well kept. Will be back in Clearwater in a few weeks and look forward to playing it again. Its one of those courses that you need to play a few times to know where to hit it off the tee.

From the tips-

This is a challenging course off the tee box because there are many holes that require a precise tee shot or you'll be left scrambling for your par. Know your target and distances and you'll be in the money. The greens are rolling true and have great speed right now.

Great staff! Polite friendly and helpful. Course was in good condition, not perfect but despite all the rain it was in terrific shape. Green designs are difficult but fair. No tricked up holes. Really nice day.

The Lakes course was in great condition. The greens and fairways were nice as well. I played from the tips and the course is not that long for par 4's and 5's, but the par 3's were all 190+. Also, my only pet peeve on courses are extreme dog leg holes, which this does have a few of them. Regardless, I would love to play it again.

Considering the amount of rain, course was in great shape. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Beautiful deer on number 4 fairway walking around like they own the place. We will definitely be back. A must positive experience
