Stonewall Golf Club at Lake Manassas

From the time we arrived the staff seemed to have an attitude. When we got there they notified us that they had just airefied the greens the day before. I had called the course a few days before and they never said anything about it. Also they had a junior tournament that reed off just in front of us It was a 5 hour round. The staff just never was friendly at all. How they talked to us was kind of rude. The course itself was suffering. I have played the course about 4 times before and it usually is in good shape. That day it was in poor shape. The fairways were suffering. Bunkers hadn’t seen any work in a good while

All 4 of my group was very disappointed with the whole experience.

Good conditions. Greens near the lake much firmer than those away from there.

A bargain if you play later in the day. Have played the course a half dozen times and never disappoints. Decent pace of play, great fairways and rough, true greens. A real challenge.

The overall experience we had was not worth the money we spent. For the cost of 99 per person per round, the course should have been in much better shape.

All the greens were beat up and it looked like no one repaired their ball marks after hitting the green.

The fairways were long and had crab grass.

The bunkers were raked recently, but an inch into the sand and it was rock hard.

Finding a distance to the pin was a challenge from anywhere on the course due to no GPS on the carts, no yardage marker posts in the fairways or rough. The only way to find it would have been a portable range finder or when we went searching for the sprinkler heads to see if they were marked.

The driving range was missing about 3 feet of sod between the mats and the actual grass. Not sure what the issue was with that.

Not one to end on a negative aspect, when we had an issue with our cart, the employees were very attentive. The pace of play was great, right at a 4 hour round, the facilities were clean and the employees were very respectful.

Overall if the course was improved, or the cost of a round was reduced, I would play again. Disappointed from previous rounds I’ve played

Stonewall is simply majestic. The entire course is extremely well-maintained and views of Lake Manassas are amazing. Definitely one of the best courses in Northern Virginia.

I returned to this course because of how much I liked it the first time I played it. This experience was not as good and are reflected in my ratings.

First, the starter, the pro shop etc., were staffed either high school or college kids and I am unsure golf acumen. The starter never told me I could go to the tee box or that I was suppose to join the threesome who left for the No. 1 tee, or I could play by myself. Whatever...

The greens were terribly slow for as close as the were cut. These are my observations and Perhaps it was simply an off day, for both the course and myself.

I would be willing to go back and try it again.

I played most of the public courses in DC area. Stonewall is my favorite course.

Lets start in the Pro shop. Met the club pro who was very nice and had a nice chat with him about the course. Gentleman at the counter was very nice and professional. The cart ladies made sure we had ice for our coolers, gave us range balls to hit if we wanted. Cart/beverage lady always came by, she was very nice and always smiling. After my round I needed some help in the pro shop and the young ladies answered my questions and helped me get what I needed.

Now the course, it's in great shape even for July. The course get's a lot of play. Everyone needs to fix there ball mark and another. The course has taken measures to help with this- someone had been around to each green and filled in each ball mark. The tee boxes were in great shape and the fairways also. If I could make one recomendation, the cart paths need a little attention. Nothing major, just me.

Kudo's to the hardworking maintenance staff for keeping this course in great shape!

I love the layout and the conditions were close to perfect. The rough was cut just right. Enough to see your ball and hit it out. But it was not easy to hit as far as you would like.

The scenery was beyond words. VERY nice houses along the course and Lake Manassas was beautiful in the back drop on some holes.

I look forward to playing this gem again!

I had heard so many good things about Stonewall. I expected more based on all the things I was told but it’s a nice course. I don’t believe it’s worth the money as the course is fairly short and there‘s nothing special about any of the holes other than a few lake side greens.

The course needed some attention. Too many ball marks unrepaired. Fairways with a lot of divots not filled. Green speed was fair.

Outside staff was horrible. Not friendly not helpful and when I asked about water they directed me to a hose on the side of the building. Looked like they hated to be there and as if golfers we are nuisance.

Would never tip any of these people because they do not deserve to have a job. The main problem was the person behind the stand who was supposedly the main guy.

Inside they were fine but outside terrible.

Complete the round in three hours. Enjoy the beautiful course.

Higher tier public track. Course itself was in good shape and has a very good layout.. Staff was friendly. First 9 went smooth but hit a major logjam on the back where 3 4somes were backed up so we had to call it as we couldn’t have finished. Recommend less groups or at least a marshal to keep the pace. That said, the pro shop attendant was excellent and gave us a partial raincheck which is a big reason why I’d play it again.

Course was in good shape and easy check in w/ solid practice facilities. I enjoyed the promotion on the par 3...that was a fun wrinkle for sure. Pace of play was atrocious on the back. Left after 13 holes - we were at 3:45 hours finishing #13. Likes the layout, will try again to see if pace of play improves.
