Stonewall Golf Club at Lake Manassas

After a difficult summer, the superintendent has worked hard to move the course back to its previous great conditions.

Had a 10am teetime through a GolfNow deal which made it $86 on a weekend. Arrived early to hit a few at the range (nice grass tee boxes), and when we were done the starter actually got us out about 15 minutes early.

The course was in fantastic shape, and the greens were firm and rolled true even though they were slightly slower than expected. It's a challenging track with tons of risk/reward opportunities, and several unbelievable views.

Pace of play was outstanding. We barely saw another group the entire time, and finished in just under 4 hours.

Highly recommend this course. I'll definitely play it again.

Course was a nice track with some scenic holes. Played fair and was quite enjoyable for everyone in my group which ranged a large skill range. Unfortunately the greens were just aerated so they were a bit bumpy. The course is probably a very good value when in peak shape, but may have been a bit pricy for the aerated greens. Will definitely go back though to try it in peak summer.

Always a treat to play. Layout and scenes of Lake Manassas ,very picturesque. Challenging, even from the forward tees.

First time playing here in 15 years and better than I remembered. Take away the houses, and it's as good as Westfields and the other better courses in the area. Great lakeside holes, and hit every club in the bag. Even though just aerated, good conditions overall and pretty good pace for a mid Saturday morning. Great rate on a Hot Deal and will be back!

Having played this course many times over the past few years I was very excited to bring friends out play. Our experience started with less than warm welcome from the starter. After checking in at proshop we returned to starter who offered us range balls to warm-up. As we were about to starting hitting we told the range was closed for "picking." When I asked if they could delay the maintenance for 10min to allow is to hit a few and start our round, we were scoffed at and told that the putting green and chipping green was open. I was disappointed that staff was not proactive in offering us a later tee time as it was clear we would prefer to warm-up. The staff gave us conflicting information about even waiting an extra slot to tee off... it got worse as the course was in the worst shape I have ever experienced. Tee boxes were spotty and tough to find flat stance & lie; fairways had patches of long grass and inconsistent fill; greens were aerated and sanded (unstable this time of year had they posted on website). Truly disappointed that they missed the mark on both course quality and customer service. I regrettably will not be back ever again.

Beautiful houses and a lake line this course with interesting topography and whole lay outs. A pleasure to play.

I play Stonewall a lot and love the course and the service. However, last Sunday when it was 100 degrees the didn't have a beverage cart on the course. VERY Disappointing

There was so much time waiting.

The PGA Staff, golf personnel and grounds techs are some of the best. The playing experience is top notch. We play twice a week and look forward to every round..

Staff keep their patrons informed and make a round a totally enjoyable experience.

Wish I could play the par 3's better.

Played midweek, midday. Course was running an August special.

Course was in great condition, and hasn't suffered from the dry spell that many other local courses have. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens all manicured. No burned out dry spots.

The one complaint was I was the second of two singles. While I declined the option of playing with the other single, the starter placed a two some with the other single. My front 9 was completed in about 2:20, then they let me play through at the turn, and I completed the back in about 90 minutes.

Played Stonewall a few times before, Pretty course, generally well-maintained. This time, the greens were pretty beat up -- lotta half-repaired/unrepaired ball marks. Also, on the front 9, we were behind a horribly -- and needlessly --slow foursome (we were 2some), and not a ranger to be found. Ended up skipping 7 and 8 to get ahead of them. Also -- very small thing -- there's very little drinking water on the course, and the only time we saw the refreshment caret was on 16.

Wasn’t able to finish the round because of the time. It should not take over 5 hours to play 17 holes on a Wednesday morning! Called the clubhouse to have the marshall come out because there were 5 groups waiting on #11 to tee off. I will not return!

I have been playing Stonewall off and on since 2002, when we lived in NoVa for 4 years. I was a Patriot Club member for a couple of years. Now that our daughter and grandchildren live in Sterling, I try to play Stonewall once or twice a year when we visit from England. Imagine my disappointment when I played today at how the course has been allowed to deteriorate. The layout is still superb. However the greens looked like a teenager with bad acne. Does no one repair their pitchmarks? My son and I must have done 5-10 per hole. Some were clearly very fresh. The fairways are also no longer the tight closely cropped surfaces of previous years. Many had a lot of couch grass - sometimes almost half the fairway. Are the current owners interested in looking after this lovely layout? I fear this may have been my last visit to my favourite course in NoVa. Please will someone rescue it?
