Winter greens
Arrived to be told was on winter greens. I accept that at this time of year but the condition of the greens was quite poor
Wonderful parkland course, with generous fairways, great greens and bunkers to keep it interesting.
Many of the holes are visually interesting from the tee, not just the 14th. Those with elevated tees feel inviting for driver but a 3 wood or long iron is the better play.
Each hole has something, from the water on the par 3s, to the raised island type greens on a few shorter par 4s, to falls fronts and fairway undulations giving blind 2nd shots.
I'll be back to play again and the 2nd round might even be more enjoyable than the 1st.
Incredible
Possibly the best course I’ve played. Absolute must play. Course was in great condition, long course so get a buggy if you aren’t fit.
Nice but challenging course
It was baking hot with the weather taking its toll on the generous fairways. However, the greens and tees were in great condition. It's a long and challenging course especially walking with some steep inclines. There’s a well-stocked golf shop with extremely friendly staff. Unfortunately the bar didn’t stock anything other than basic nibbles so we had to stop on the way home for a bite to eat. Overall I would recommend the Roxburghe golf course.
Greens disappointing after maintenance
This is a challenging course with some long walks between tees if no buggy. On the day I played the greens and green surrounds had been heavily tined with deep holes filled with sand making putting much of a lottery. Had I known this in advance, I would not have played. Generally though, with the benefit of past experience of having played here with the greens in great order, I would say this is a well maintained and interesting course which will challenge better players.
This Golf Course is a must to play!
Thoroughly enjoyed playing this course, great game on this challenging Course with formidable bunkers,
If you are Golfers & visiting this area, it’s well worth a visit !
It’s a pity thou’ when you book thru’ GolfNow the customer service is not the same on this course.
Stunning
This course was stunning from the start. I bought a scoresaver card which was a good choice and helped me out a lot. The course is reasonably long with 3 long par 5s I shot 81 overall with the Moderate breeze (blowing a houlie) well worth a visit. (7) handicap
Gtrest course
A great late afternoon/evening playing golf in a wonderful Scottish Borders setting
Fabulous condition
The course was in great condition and well worth the green fees despite the extreme weather conditions the made for a challenging round.
No facilities and no warning
Course was excellent, club house upgrade in progress, but not advised when phone to booked. Travelled are long way to play, but no facilities, no toilets and no locker rooms and no bar or eating facilities.
Disappointing as we visited every year.
Fabulous course
Condition of the course was fabulous and staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend a visit to the Schloss Roxburgh for a great golfing experience!
Roxburghe
Brilliant course, absolute fantastic experience.
Only thing missing is a course map as there a lot of blind approaches.
But this did not affect great day
Best in Boders
A lot of construction work is being carried out at the hotel and clubhouse, this didn’t affect the visit one bit.
Fairways were in immaculate condition which every ball on them you had a perfect lie. Greens had been worked on and sanded, although they run true, was difficult to judge. Scenery was breathtaking throughout the day.
One thing that was lacking was a course or hole map, which would improve your score immensely. Saying that, it did not deflect the pleasure I had playing the Roxburgh,e, which I wouldn’t hesitate to book and play again.
Enjoyable course
For 25 quid this is a really great inland course in great shape. They really care about the course and it’s well worth playing. Lots of good holes although a bit hilly. If you can get a hot deal here it’s one of the best bargains in Scotland along with Monifieth (medal)
Nice resort course with interesting variety of holes
Good layout and fun to play. Greens aren't very good just yet with winter treatment still evident
The course was excellent in layout and condition.
Due to building work, there was no club house, so food and drink could only be had in the hotel, where prices were expensive.
Excellent value for golf.
