afternoon 4 ball
booked through Tee off times very easy.
course was brilliant, good bit of walking between some tees,6.500 off the yellows so its not a short course, great afternoon out in lovely surroundings..
Beautiful Day but Unforgiving Rough
This was a return trip for me to this course. It was in immaculate condition. The greens were fast and true. The fairways manicured, the bunkers sand soft, but the rough- grass two and half feet high and the rest. I know one is not supposed to get in there but it would be good to have a fighting chance to finding the ball. Hole position maps at each tee would be a bonus, as would be a map of each hole. Ok you can always buy the course guide but I have played on many courses now where a map at the tee is standard.
I think that a course "parkie" would be a useful addition to keep the speed of play at a reasonable pace. We took 4 hours and 10 minutes for 18 holes which is not outrageous but there were times where we were waiiting because of several four balls hunting for balls in the rough!!
All in all a great days golf and i will be back.
Superb course
Always a great course to play , long and challenging, only downside was the greens being dressed after being hollow tined made the greens slow but like all courses this time of year a little grass growth is needed.
Superb day out
The course was in great condition considering the weather we have endured over the last couple of months. The green were excellent. After golf we enjoyed a coffee and a great bacon roll.
Championship course
This is a proper championship course. Super conditions for the middle of february. Full course open with some memorable holes. Highly recommended.
Best Course in the Borders
Rained very heavy the previous day but the course was in fantastic condition. This is a must play course for any golfer. One off the best courses you will ever play. Good mixture of holes and not two the same.
An extremely enjoyable experience.
This is one of the top three courses I have played in Scotland, Ireland, Wales, England and Portugal. It is worth travelling to. Some of the holes, particularly the 10th (SI 1) and 11th (SI 7) brought me to my knees (hcap 14). I must go back to master them. An extremely enjoyable experience.
Good condition left a little dissapointed
Much was made of this being a championship course. Whilst the condition of the course was good the layout and play left me a little underwhelmed.
I found little memorable about the course and have played a number of course that brag less but are in my opinion more interesting.
Tough course, even off yellow tees
Bunkers very well placed and often quite high, especially round the greens.
Overall a golfers course and you need to be long and straight, with a little bit of nous wrt slopes on fairways to play round this course. Rough doesn't look bad but often, from personal experience, penal. You have few opportunities at my level , 12 handicap, to go for birdies. Even off the yellows it's usually at least a 5 iron to the green, and they are well protected.
I would guess anyone playing off 18 here could be off twelve in many courses.
Good condition.
A tad expensive, but would recommend if you enjoy a challenge. Very good course.
Great course, great value for money
Excellent course in great condition, greens could've been a bit quicker but i'll put that done to the unusually hot weather!! Cracking mix of holes, with some excellent par 3s especially, and a good variety off tees to suit all levels of golfer. Personally I found it fine to walk, the walks between holes weren't too bad considering what some friends had told me. The staff we met were friendly and helpful. The only thing i'd say was missing was a practice net near the clubhouse, as we didn't really have time to get to the practice area for a wee warm up, but thats just being picky as we went down straight from work. I would definately recommend this course to anyone.
Stunning Course - 5 Stars *****
Having played the course a few year ago we knew what to expect with the length of walks between holes, buggy recommended if in doubt. The course is a real challenge and requires all parts of your game to be in working order otherwise it will beat you up!!
The course was in pristine condition and we will no doubt play again in the near future.
Had a blast
The course is in fantastic condition, we played a 3 ball around course. No problem booking tee time and staff friendly.
Course is a great driving course with some big fairways to hit, big bunkers to punish the wayward and lots of undulating greens .
Thoroughly enjoyed round and will be back for third time soon
Fantastic Course
This is a FANTASTIC course! This is up there with some of my favourite courses I have played, and I have played a number of great courses in Scotland. When you consider the price, it really is great value for money. The track is really interesting and most of the holes spark excitement and look fantastic when standing on the tee. Can't recommend enough, if it was closer to Edinburgh I would become a member tomorrow.
Great Scottish Challenge
Superb course in a great setting with a nice variety of holes.
Fairly generous fairways but you need to hit them or be prepared to be penalised.
Every hole is very well guarded by bunkers or water and the greens were still quite fast despite some rain.
You need to be reasonably fit or use a buggy if not.
Well worth the visit and recommended.
