SilverRock Resort is the city of La Quinta's first municipal golf course. This Arnold Palmer Classic Course is the home course of the Bob Hope Classic. At 7,239 yards, it is the longest course in Palm Springs and one of the longest courses on the PGA Tour. SilverRock sits right at the base of the Santa Rosa and Coral Mountains, which provide a stunning backdrop for every hole. It is closer to the mountains than any other public golf course in the area. The rugged landscape provides rocky outcroppings and massive native bunkers to contend with throughout the course. Beautiful water features also come into play on several holes. The SilverRock layout is challenging but the widths of the fairways are fair and playable and the holes are diverse enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels.

Overbearing marshals

Beautiful day in La Quinta at SilverRock…ruined by an overbearing and pushy marshal on the second nine of the course. He followed us for 4-5 holes, observing our play, pushing us on (despite having space between us and the group behind), and once even entering our cart while we were putting to look at our gps display (I am assuming to check on our pace of play). On every hole we waited as appropriate to tee off behind the group ahead. We all felt rushed by the marshal, which affected our level of play. All were frustrated and upset by the intrusion into our anticipated fun day of golf with family on our annual trip to the desert. I feel that the on course staff needs some lessons in customer service, especially given the rate of green fees assessed. Highly disappointed.

Fun course in excellent condition

Things to know:

Unlimited range balls with round. Lots of driving to get to range, starter will call you from range with time to spare. There is a putting green at #1 tee to get some putts in before teeing off. I (solo) consolidated carts with a third of a threesome at #1. Have to drive to restaurant/bar as well. La Quinta has some good food options/bars/brewery and I liked it better than other valley "towns".

Really enjoyable round on a very fun course in amazing condition. Great way to finish my Palm Springs golf trip. Once construction is finished this will be an awesome spot and probably a lot more expensive than it is now. Lots of unique holes and all feel very different. Good mix of risk/reward.

My trip rankings as mid-handicapper (everything was great and I would play them all again)

SilverRock > Rams Hill > Desert Willow Firecrest > Indian Canyon South > Shadow Hills North > Indian Canyon North

Rams Hill would be #1 if conditions were a little better.

Best value: Indian Canyon especially with Replay

Great course

This is certainly a top Palm Springs area course. Great shape and location. I was a little disappointed in the ongoing construction. it’s been like this since at least 2019 and it just keeps expanding with no end in sight. Pace of play was not as good as usual. We had a slow group in front of us that held us back all day. They were late to the tee and slow all day. Usually they do better with this. All in all, it was a great day of golf on a beautiful course!

Disappointing

The presence of many incomplete buildings and structures really distracts from the appeal. There is no clubhouse and amenities are nonexistent. Our cart didn’t have a pencil for the scorecard. There is no scorecard box on the course. The GPS monitors were not on or working when we started and we had to ask for assistance during the round. The course Marshalls consistently harassed us about pace of play even though the group behind us was more than one hole behind the whole round. At a green fee of $200 per head this was a ridiculously bad experience. For the resident rate of $60 it would feel appropriately like the muni course it actually is.

Nice Course a& Great Staff

This is a beautiful, well kept course and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The "clubhouse" is a double-wide and the course has an abandoned development around it, but the golf course is worth it!

First time

We booked the first tee time out as many reviews were complaining about pace of play. This was our first experience at Silver Rock. The course is beautiful and challenging. A true desert golf experience . Unfortunately the club house is under construction and gives the overall course a low cost low quality vibe but quickly compensated by the beauty of the course.

Also after all those negative pace of play reviews the course signals through many messages on the golf cart screen that you are below their targeted 4h pace which is good but 4h on a course like this one and for a four sum is challenging. We did it in 3h50 and definitely felt rushed. Nevertheless I will absolutely not hesitate to go back.

Nice Course / Construction mess was unappealing

Played our first round on our boys trip here. Very nice golf course and conditions were excellent. Unfortunately, it looks like an unfinished construction site at almost every turn. Once they can complete everything going on it will be an awesome place to play but the visual eyesore of the unfinished buildings and stacks of building material took away from what the experience eventually will be.
