Burntisland Golf House Club
About
Burntisland Golf House Club in Fife, Scotland, is an 18-hole golf course designed by architect Willie Park Jun. It's best described as having a parkland nature, although some holes have a links-type turf to hit off. The course is just under 6,000 yards and has a diversity of terrain.
The fun starts with three par 3s in the first six holes, but birdie opportunities abound. There's only one par 4 over 400 yards, for instance, so good length off the tee and control of mid-irons can lead to that elusive below-par score. The two par 5s are also tamable: No. 2 has a tricky two-tier green that's narrow from front to back, but 12 is much less challenging for the low-handicap golfer.
Throughout the golf course, however, control is key. Out of bounds lies to the left of the first four holes and the 18th, and to the right of nine and 10. You face a pond to the right on five, and you have to maneuver past a quarry on 12. Beyond that, the course throws up its share of trees, gorse and rough all over.
When you finish the course, check out the clubhouse, which offers a bar/lounge/dining area. The bar's open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. in the summer.

Good challenging course with special views
While hilly, it's a tricky course with spectacular views. The pro was so helpful and friendly.
Great course and club!
Great course with several quirky holes. Pro shop staff member was really friendly and helpful. Went in for a pint afterwards, good atmosphere and staff again really helpful and friendly.
Would definetly play again and recommend.
Challenging layout
Nice course to play with lots of very different holes in very good condition for the time of year.
Quite a challenge to walk round as there are quite a few hills to go up and down. No two holes the same with some interesting shot making required.
Clubhouse was also very welcoming as indeed was the pro shop. Would recommend for a visit
Fantastic course
It was a lovely sunny winters day and the views across the Forth were fantastic. Morning frost meant it was winter greens. We were notified of this before arrival and offered the chance to amend our booking, but we were just happy not to be playing off fairway mats and went ahead. So glad we did as we thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be back.
Winter Golf for a great price
Burntisland GC is around 45 minutes away from where we play & 30 minutes from Edinburgh. Our home course was closed with snow on the course, so went up for the day after checking Golfnow reviews for Burntisland. Although it was on winter tees & greens, we were not disappointed with the course or the day out in January. The layout is a challenging one with slopes & bunkers making it interesting. The ground for the time of year was not too wet, considering the past few weeks weather. Some fantastic views too, so checkout the photos on the website.
Craig, the Pro was very welcoming, explaining due to the temp overnight that the main greens were closed for the day & letting us set off a few minutes early. Winter greens did not stop us having a good time & we're planning on going back when the full course is open.
The pace of play was fine too & took us around 3-hours for a two ball. Even managed to keep the same ball for the entire round, but suspect once the entire course is open, this will be much more of a challenge.
We finished off with lunch & again the staff could not be nicer, the food was good & the price was very reasonable.
All in all a great winters golf-day out & would recommend others give it a go during winter or summer. We'll be back & thanks for a great time.
Regards Stewart.
Burntisland, little gem.
Great day out at Burntisland today, fantastic value and 2 temporary greens didn't detract from the course being in great nick for January. Fantastic views across the Forth.
Outstanding winter golf
Absolutely blown away with the quality of this course in the winter, no fairway mats, only one winter green albeit course is a bit shorter with the winter tee box's, the views are spectacular on every hole and every hole on the course is an absolute joy to play, and to top it all I think we payed £18 to play it, £6.50 for a toastie and a bowl of soup in the clubhouse after the round which is also great value, can't wait to get back and play it in the summer
You should try this!
Next May will be my family’s third year playing Burntisland GC then staying overnight (Thurs/Fri) at the Kingswood hotel for dinner bed and breakfast, with the option of playing Kinghorn or Lochore municipal coarse’s the next morning. Nine of us play. Fathers and sons and nephews. We have a fantastic family time, simply because the golf club and the hotel provide a high quality service at a reasonable cost.
Adriane (Burntisland GC) and Dal (kingswood hotel) are the people to speak too! Try it, you’ll not be sorry! Joe.
Great Value
Played as a foursome, with a cooked breakfast beforehand. Friendly staff, generous portions. Friendly and informative professional. Despite being early December, we were lucky to see 17 greens in play, only 1 winter green. Tees were all forward. Nice , varied course, and lovely views over the Forth. All four of us commented on how we'd enjoyed it, and will definitely return, hopefully during summer months. Golf Now price of £13.99 per head was excellent value for money.
Burntisland
We had a great day at Burntisland, the weather was excellent, the course was in superb condition given that it was November. Pro-shop was very well stocked and the Pro was very pleasant and extremely helpful, so much so that we're playing on Friday as a 4 Ball, we will also play more over the course of the Winter.
Worth the train ride from Edinburgh 100%
Incredible views, perfect course conditions and pace of play, incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Definitely worth the quick train ride for anyone staying in Edinburgh and looking to get out of the city for a round!
Great course, excellent condition
Played my local course on a golfing weekend in Fife with 2 friends from York.
The course is in excellent condition from tee to green, with well manicured fairways and lovely greens. There are a number of interesting holes as you progress through the course - having played the course a few times, my personal favourites are the 4th (amazing views across the Firth of Forth towards Arthur's Seat and Edinburgh), 9th downhill to a raised green, 10th down a banked slope to a partially sunken green with a banked wall, the shared green on 8th and 15th and the quirky Par 3 17th hole, 120 yard pitch onto a sunken green with rockface to the right and bunker to the left.
Well stocked pro's shop and friendly bar staff and chef - we all had a meal in the bar - good quality pub grub, made to order.
A good day out.
Just wow
What a course , every hole different , a wonderful challenge
Spectacular views
A real hidden gem
It's a must play!!
This is a brilliant course, challenging, great views and the greens are some of the best I've played on. Highly recommend will be back. Food in the clubhouse was great and all the staff were friendly and helpful. 👏👏👏
Burnt island golf course
Absolutely loved my day out here so much that I want back the next day with a friend who also enjoyed the course unfortunately the weather on second took a turn for the worse( high winds) so when weather is better will definitely go back the scenery alone is amazing and the course layout is great 👍
5*
Amazing course one of the best out there in my opinion ! Trust the marker posts and you’ll be fine. Some quirky tricky holes . Every hole is different which is refreshing to see ! Love the views tee boxes and greens always superb
Pat 3 17th is the most quirky out there !
Friendly and accommodating staff too
