Holes 18
Type
Style Parkland
Par 70
Length 6210 yards
Slope 123
Rating 69.9

Thornton Golf Club sprawls across an expanse of wooded parkland bounded by the River Ore. The course is mostly flat, making it easy to walk but don't let the lack of elevation deceive you. The golf course provides challenges for all skill levels, it especially tests players who have a tendency to hook their shots. The river comes into play on the par-3 14th hole, which is the first of a set of five demanding holes. Despite being some of the shortest holes on the course, they are actually the most challenging. Long hitters will have to be careful on these finishing holes. The final hole is longer than most of the course's short par 4s but it is more straightforward. In addition to the interesting round, Thornton Golf Club has built its reputation on the excellently maintained greens.

Poor course layout and condition

Really poor condition for March and not enjoyable with a lot of sandy greens, shortened hole and still winter greens. Which meant the holes were very samey!

Nice course in very good condition

Last minute change of booking due to closure of Kirkcaldy due to flooding took us to Thornton. It’s not the easiest course to access due to single track road and tunnel under railway line. However it’s a good course and despite the heavy overnight rain was in remarkably good condition. The course was pretty quiet and so pace of play was fast. Pro and clubhouse staff were very friendly and bar food was good. Well worth the green fee

A Hidden Gem in the heart of Fife

I used to be a member here, and was back for a round with an old friend. The course was in magnificent condition and the greens were beautiful and true. It truly is a beautiful and picturesque course, and you need to hit the ball relatively straight to avoid the trees lining the fairways.. The back nine has a greater variety of holes compared to the fronr, and is equally testing.. If you're looking for a parkland course in fife, there are few better..

Heard through a friend that this course was good & it didn't disappoint! Maybe not the longest or hardest golf course but easy walk with beautiful greens even in February! made it a pleasure to play round & I'm sure I'll be back again.
