Glenrothes Golf Club
About
Glenrothes Golf Club in Fife offers a challenging 18-hole golf course in a parkland setting. Built in 1967, it's a par-71, 6,406-yard course that occupies a prominent position on the high ground west of Glenrothes. The views from the course are memorable, with tree-lined fairways and glimpses of the Lomond Hills to the north and the Firth of Forth and the Lothians to the south.
The golf course itself is challenging, particularly the back nine, which features a burn that crosses four fairways. Long hitters will enjoy the wide fairways, while those with a good short game will appreciate Glenrothes Golf Club's well-maintained greens.
The course features four par 3s and three par 5s. And while the front nine features the two most extreme holes - No. 3, named "Wester Gales," a 149-yard par 3, and No. 7, Lomond Loan, a 564-yard monstrous par 5 - it's the aforementioned back nine that really taxes. The hole names alone should scare the average golfer - from No. 11, Satan's Gateway, to No. 18, Hell's End, Glenrothes sounds more like a haunted amusement park than a golf course.
There is amusement to be had, of course, and not just on the greens. Glenrothes Golf Club boasts several after-round options, including the Main Lounge, which is the heart of the clubhouse. It's a spacious room with a tasteful decor and comfortable seating. It even has its own dance floor and pool table. There's also a small lounge, which seats 20, and a bar, open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily (until midnight on Friday and Saturday). Full catering services are available in the clubhouse.

glenrothes golf curse a bargain
I have played this golf course, walking is a nightmare the back nine, so for a moderate cost, just renta a buggie, you will enjoy more the golf. Some of the greens were aireated, so some of the first holes were not in the best condition. .. but only some of them. The layout is nice, some very difficult holes (in the back nine) and others very reachable or moderate, but it will test your skills. The only downside is the clubhouse which is normally closed, though it is quite nice even one of the nicest under Fife Golf Trust. The view of the course from there is extaordinair
Well Worth Playing
This was my home course as a boy I’m 63 now and it’s great to see it maturing mainly the front 9 which is tree lined greens were a bit rough as they’d been hollowtined week before but true enough! Folk think this is going to take you 6 hrs to play yes you could fit most 18 courses in 9 holes of Glenrothes but it has wide fairways and you’ll get round in under 4hrs we only took it in 3 and a half! It’s a good test for any handicap and maybe the front 9 would do for shorter hitters old folk some lady’s n younger junior's! but very enjoyable course! Check for catering as they’re not open Monday Tuesday but there’s a lovely cafe at the Airport £7 Roll on bacon N Capacino was splendid! If you’ve not played here it’s a must give it a go!
one of the best public golf courses in Fife
Very nice golf course and well kept. Greens very good, quite readable. The back 9 are much much difficult holes, and very sloppy, so the best is to rent a golf cart (Buggie) unless you are in excellent physical condition.
My pace was obstructed when older men were before me...and they did not care if I was single golfer...so I had to wait quite much during 9 holes...courtesy is in danger.
Glenrothes under rated
The course is in very good condition, comparing with others that suffered the hot days. Greens really good, back 9 holes will test your abilities.
I have played almost all those are under Fife Trust, but this is the best in my opinion.
Excellent Greens
The course was certainly a challenge with us having up to 40mph winds blowing. Course was in great condition with very good fairways and excellent greens .
Great course, horrific rough.
Course is marvelous, we were lucky enough to have perfect weather. The addition of the small airfield and planes flying 100 metres overhead was fascinating and the course is challenging but fair ( except for the roughg) Being an occasional golfer I feel a bit penalised losing balls when they hop two yards off target so I would hesitate to go back to what was a pretty excellent course.
Enjoyable - hilly
Good condition course with interesting layout. Narrow ish front 9 to a sparse, hilly back 9.
Greens play slow but hard, not much stoppage on the green on approach. Green Pace was quite slow on putting which felt odd on hard greens.
Pace of play good and let through a few times.
Overall enjoyable round with fantastic views and fun holes
Superb course
What a hidden gem
Great challenge
Greens superb
Very well kept course
Great course at a bargain
Very challenging golf course and nice surroundings, very friendly staff, and take a trolley .. is needed unless you are young.
This gc is not less in quality as other twice expensive GC so I think is very underated,
Go and you will enjoy everything
Layout excellent
Every hole was different. I thought the layout was very good and the condition of the course was excellent

I enjoyed my round of golf. Guy in pro shop was friendly and helpful. Course was in good condition, would deffo play again.
A hidden gem.
This course is a challenging parkland course and kept in excellent condition by accommodating, hard working, knowledgeable staff.
In addition to that, the pro shop staff are extremely helpful.
The clubhouse has a nice atmosphere with very pleasant staff and a very tasty bacon roll.
