About
Marshall Canyon Golf Course is nestled within the scenic foothills that overlook La Verne. The course is seemingly short at 6,110 yards from the back tees but it's not to be underestimated. The hilly terrain provides more than enough uneven lies and blind shots. The fast greens are also some of the toughest in the area but they are nicely balanced by wide, player-friendly fairways. The hard-to-read greens have subtle but tricky breaks that get easier once you've played the golf course before but even then, they still present some challenges. Marshall Canyon is a local favorite not only for the challenging round but also because it's a good value with great scenery. Golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and will often catch a glimpse of the many deer that roam the course.

Slow play
I expected the round to take less than 5-1/2 hours on a Friday morning but it was terribly slow play. I didn't see one marshall all day. Very frustrating pace.
Great place
The course is really Maitane . The fairways are clean of leaves and the greens are really excellent.

Where is the water?
Weather was hot and the course was watering the fairway. My towel had dried up and golf ball was dirty. So glad to see they have the ball washer setup! To my disappointment only 1 in 10 has a little bit of water in it, no wonder they do not hang any drying towels by the washer.
Ball washers are not for show, they meant to be used. Please fill them up with water for players' convenience..

You’re working hard at trying to get the course greened up again and the greens are in good shape I’ll continue to play there as my home course

I normally like going to this course but…
Been here a couple times before and it’s really nice and back in the mountains. Love how they have deer on the course. But yesterday when I went the greens were being repaired and it almost wasn’t even fun playing because you’d get to the green and barely even be able to putt because it’s punched with sand everywhere… just wish someone would let me know before I book it and I believe they shouldn’t even charge full price when it’s like that. If I would’ve known every single green was messed up with sand I would’ve gladly went to another course.

What happened to this place?
Played here frequently years ago. It was a really nice course. Now its really shabby. Greens were actually decent but the Fairways and Tee Boxes were a mess. The bones are still there, Hopefully it bounces back.

Good confidence building course, tricky greens
This is an older course set in the foothills. Lots of trees but wide fairways. The tee boxes are horrible. They need to be leveled and mowed. When putting, remember everything breaks away from the mountains.

Solid, interesting option
Fun, interesting layout, nice greens, but on the shorter side, especially the par 5s. If you have local knowledge of the course, you can shoot a low score. First time playing is a little tricky with lots of blind holes.

It's a good course with many nice things in play but it is the surroundings that are so easy on the eyes. The greens and fairways were good mostly but right of the edges there was a lots of debris and overgrown rough.

Hidden gem
This is a lovely course tucked into a canyon. Don’t usually like hilly courses but this strikes a good balance. Very good greens and fairways. Bunkers were raked but they were like concrete—needs lots of sand or deep roto-tilling. I wish the trees were trimmed near the 17th tee. Only a narrow slot to aim through. Remodeled club house looks great. Will be wonderful when they get it done. And they have a decent grass driving range. Really like this course.
