About
Marshall Canyon Golf Course is nestled within the scenic foothills that overlook La Verne. The course is seemingly short at 6,110 yards from the back tees but it's not to be underestimated. The hilly terrain provides more than enough uneven lies and blind shots. The fast greens are also some of the toughest in the area but they are nicely balanced by wide, player-friendly fairways. The hard-to-read greens have subtle but tricky breaks that get easier once you've played the golf course before but even then, they still present some challenges. Marshall Canyon is a local favorite not only for the challenging round but also because it's a good value with great scenery. Golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and will often catch a glimpse of the many deer that roam the course.

Solid, interesting option
Fun, interesting layout, nice greens, but on the shorter side, especially the par 5s. If you have local knowledge of the course, you can shoot a low score. First time playing is a little tricky with lots of blind holes.

It's a good course with many nice things in play but it is the surroundings that are so easy on the eyes. The greens and fairways were good mostly but right of the edges there was a lots of debris and overgrown rough.

Hidden gem
This is a lovely course tucked into a canyon. Don’t usually like hilly courses but this strikes a good balance. Very good greens and fairways. Bunkers were raked but they were like concrete—needs lots of sand or deep roto-tilling. I wish the trees were trimmed near the 17th tee. Only a narrow slot to aim through. Remodeled club house looks great. Will be wonderful when they get it done. And they have a decent grass driving range. Really like this course.

Rude and aggressive people playing
First we had an incident with one guy playing alone (single) who hit the ball when we were still on the fairway, and that ball landed 2 feet from where I was waiting (inside the golf cart). He apologized after realizing that the ball almost hit me. Sadly he did it, knowing that I was there, because it was 150 yards (aprox) from the tee box.
Second this group of 3 players started to get mad and accused me of being loud while I was playing on the fairway of hole No. 15, then one of the guys started to walk towards me, aggressively, and started to threaten me that he will knock me out and he even grab my golf ball and threw it at me, aiming to hit me in the head, then he proceeded to offer to fight with me, screaming and yelling at me for about 5 minutes, then he tried to grab my own golf club out of my hand, without succeeding. At the end after ignoring him he went to my golf cart and grabbed one of my golf clubs and threw it on a tree.
It is sad and disappointed that this golf course allows people behaving like that, offering to fight, grabbing and trying to destroy my personal belongings while in the middle of a game session, when it supposed to be a “gentleman’s sport”
Really bad experience, I am confident that I will never return to this golf course ever!

Slow Play
There were two large groups ahead of us--one five, one four. Even after advising the marshal, not offered an opportunity to play through either group..

They let three singles go out in front of us and it made a very long play.

Very pretty
Beautiful course with lots of deer. Very good fairways and greens. Not too much slope despite the hillside location. Very enjoyable round.

Nice Experience
Booked a good rate on Golf Now at $ 42 + Cart with a 10:40 tee time. Weather conditions were perfect with a light cloud cover to reduce the expected Heat and a welcome breeze. The Clubhouse and section of outside building is under renovations which lowered my Amenities (temporarily) to a 3 Star rating, but the staff did a good job with patio amenities and 1 Golf Cart service for the course. Starter is a great guy, professional, and active on course to encourage pace of play for slower groups. We had a slow foursome ahead of us that delayed the round to around 5 hours. Course conditions were surprisingly well watered, greens were soft but ball rolled very well on the greens. Fairways too were in good conditions for an August summer weekend. Mountain Meadows is a hidden gem with great views, several heard of deer roaming the course and just a great time had by all. Lots of laughter among the guess players. I recommend this course anytime of the year.

Marshall Canyon
Beautiful course but I've never experienced it with the greens cut close. Greens were super slow and some were still wet and soggy (not from dew)
