About
The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.
This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,823 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.
The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.
The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Solid course
Greens , 4/5 a few greens had weed problems but not all. fairly quick and smooth rolling
Fairways 4/5 nice in most places they have some areas that need attention but nothing i would be concerned about at all except for aesthetics
Staff 5/5 super nice and the starter even sent us off early
Range is 3/5 You have to hit off the mat unless jts a weekend.
Overall a great and challenging course especially from the tips the wind can be a huge factor Recommend for sure !!

Nice course. Carts were nice. Pace of play was very slow. 5.5 hours to play 18 holes was way to much for me personally. Beer prices a bit high. Course was very nice though.

They have put a lot of money into this course in the last few years and it shows. Fairways and 16 of 18 greens in excellent shape. Par 5 5th unfortunately the green is loaded with Poa Anna.
Staff is excellent, quite friendly and accommodating. I feel very welcome at Amelia River as a non-member.

Best Public Course on Amelia Island
Great course. Challenging but fair. Well maintained. Very friendly staff! Played there with a group of friends and we would all definitely play the course again and again anytime we visit Amelia Island.

I’ve been playing this course for 3 years now and it’s always under some kind of maintenance but that’s a good thing. It gets so much play and they are at least always trying to make it better . For a semi public course , it does have members, it’s an awesome course for the value! The layout I think is great. From the blue tees it’s tough and from the tips unless you’re scratch done even bother. I’m 52 now and don’t hit it as far as I used to so I play the blue/black combo. Their black tees are equivalent to white tees. Play to your ability and pace of play moves at a better speed. I love this course and it’s 8 minutes from my house . Highly recommended!
