About
The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.
This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,878 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.
The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.
The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Enjoyable Round
We play Amelia River every time we visit Amelia Island. The course is well run and always in great shape, though the greens were a little slower than expected. The staff are always friendly and welcoming.
First time
Overall course is good, pin placements are approachable, and conditions of greens are very good. Fairways are not in good shape with many areas distressed. Given then the green fees, the course should be in better shape. All staff were great, engaged and helpful.

Best greens in the area
The course was in unbelievable condition for this time of year. The tee boxes were better than most greens on other local courses. The only negative I could think of is the distances shown on the cart gps display was off. Wonderful day of golf!!

The holes by the airport are terrific. Those by the River (1,2,18) are too narrow and chopped up.

Ebird at Amelia River Club
Played in February. Greens very smooth but maybe a little slow. Course in good shape for winter. I liked the layout and played with a member who provided good course info. A little pricey, but it is a resort area.

Good layout, normally very good conditions.
This is off season conditions. Greens good, but grass thin. But enjoyable play even this way. Highly recommended.

Amelia River Club winter
Played in late February. Course in very good shape for winter. Greens roll very true, maybe a little slow. I should gave spent a few extra minutes on practice green as I never really got a good feel for speed. Played with a local member who gave good advice. Even though not playing well, it was a fun round, and I would recommend.
Challenging but fun
Plenty of challenging holes at Amelia River to test your skills. At the same time very enjoyable layout and conditions are vastly improved. The maintenance staff has been working on the course and it definitely shows. Still a few rough patches here and there but I believe it won't be long before everything is in great shape.
Kudos to Management for stepping up their game.

The course layout is amazing
Very nice course the older I am now. I play from the front tees.
And occasionally we'll step back. I'll play this course a lot very challenging from the back tees. The par threes will keep you honest. I highly recommend this course

Great Course
Greens are in nice shape and roll true. Course is challenging but fair. Played in 3 1/2 hours. Staff and members are welcoming and friendly. Will definitely keep as top course on Amelia Island
