About
The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.
This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,878 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.
The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.
The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

The course was OK but grossly overpriced. I play a lot of courses and this one was worth $60-$75 in my opinion.

Since I took up golf approximately 2 years ago, this course has become my home course. I play others but frankly I like this course best. The course is always in good shape, the carts are clean and ready for use and the people are very friendly. Love this golf course.

In excellent condition!
Loved playing Amelia River. Weather was perfect. Course was in excellent shape. Greens rolled smooth and true. Fast but not overly fast as the slope on the greens would be too tough. But they looked amazing. The only negative (which isn’t really too much of a negative) was the lay three tee boxes had been overseeded with I think rye grass and hadn’t been cut so you were teeing it up in kind of rough. But just found a spot where there was a previous shot and it was no biggie. This is def the best course in the Amelia area for the money. Get a golf now deal and you won’t be disappointed.

Amelia River is ok
I’ve played this course many times. The greens are always good. The fairways are always sparse. This is October and the courses on Amelia Island are in their best condition at this time of year. AR is not in that great of condition. I played AR for $60 which is a good price and is what AR is worth. It is not worth the other rates they charge. Pace of play was typical at 4 hours. AR is however the best layout of any course in the Island. No houses. There are no views until 18 green when you see Amelia River for the first and last time. In all is just ok.
