The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.

This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,823 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.

The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.

The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Good, Not great

The course was a good, not great, value with our discounted GolfNow tee time....certainly not near worth the $169-$189 rate I was quoted from the pro shop. Driving rage was closed...Greens were recently aerated and sanded, fairways recently blade aerated. Pace of play was awful...we were a twosome sent out behind 4 walkers, who were actually held up by the very slow foursome in front of them....no ranger in sight to speed up play...2:15 tree time, finished up at 7:10 (with about a 15 min rain delay) got off the 1st green and met the cart girl who informed us that she was finished for the day.... loved the course set up, but lots of recent or unmarked GUR...

Amelia River has it all.

Great course. Great amenities and overall great time. From the time we dropped our bags and climbed into the cart until we finished, it was a top notch experience. And only getting better with the enhancements they at doing to the range.

Absolutely fantastic!

One of the best-kept courses you will find! Beautiful tee boxes, fairways and greens. Played it after a night of heavy rain and it drained incredibly well. Greens were fast and true. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming — highly recommend! Well worth the trip from Jacksonville or South Georgia

Phenomenal shape right now.

Near perfect. Greens awesome! Fairways well done. Tee boxes great. Incredibly manicured course compared to most public courses around Jax. If you get a deal time, jump on it.

Best Greens-Best Staff

Best greens I’ve ever played in Florida. Staff went above and beyond from the initial greeting At the bag drop to returning the cart at the end. As a bonus had a nice 50% off clothing selection.

Best value for the money

Compared to the majority of courses in Jacksonville., this course provides a good get away for a great price. Layout was generally challenging. Greens were a bit slow but in great shape. I would definitely play here again. .

Fun long day.

Great shape, nice folks, slow old people, but the wind was blowing and it wasn’t too hot so waiting wasn’t too bad. 3 cart path only holes that day. 2,9, 18

Lots of fun

This is a really fun and challenging course to play. Greens are very good, but get slow in late afternoon as the Bermuda grows during the day. Fairways are really well manicured, and the rough isn’t very thick. The layout has a lot of variety and there are lots of challenging holes mixed with some birdie holes. There are tees for every level. They have named holes 16-18 the Gator Den, and it’s aptly named. You can see gators on 17 and 18, but these are three really tough closing holes. Be on your game and you’ll shoot a good score. I thoroughly enjoy playing here as a 2 handicap golfer.

Nice course and layout

The fairways were in nice shape despite the Florida drought. The greens were in great shape and rolled true. They were cut a little longer and were slower than I was used to. But I am used to very fast greens. Probably better for most people. They had a great variety of tee boxes so you can make the course as tough as you want take on. My wife thought the course was woman friendly with only a few forced carries and the right length for her game.
