The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.

This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,823 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.

The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.

The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Great Conditions

Greens were smooth and fast. Overall good conditions but people need to sand their divots and fix ball marks. Not the clubs fault but they need to be addressed. Higher priced course but worth the extra

Amelia River review

This has become my home course and love the layout. They have been working hard on maintenance, got new carts, and don’t allow carts in most areas. If they could get the rough in better shape this course would be great! I love the layout.

Definitely worth it

Decided to give this place a try because I’d heard good things. The drive from Jax to Fernandina / Amelia is beautiful. The course is in great shape. Greens are among the best I’ve seen in Florida. The layout is nice. There are challenging holes and birdie holes. I plan to be back pretty often.

Amelia River

This is my home course and I love the layout . I am a 7 handicap and the threesome I played with was so I gave it a go. It’s a completely different course and so much harder. The maintenance has gotten better and they added a new fleet of brand new carts . And finally installed working ball washers . Only drawback on new carts is they go into alarm mode when driving certain places , Normally I’m all for this because people drive where they shouldn’t but this was over the top. They should have just posted or said in clubhouse 90 degree or cart path only which I’m fine with. But almost everywhere you went it rang this loud obnoxious alarm. Definitely had to bother other players on other holes. . I still love this course but please play the tees to your ability . The tips didn’t flow down our pace of play just inflated my score .

Great course.

Me and my hubby enjoyed the course a lot. We played in pretty windy conditions with little bit of drizzle… felt like playing in Scotland. The Course was interesting and open layout. Enjoyed lot more than The Golf Club of Amelia Island.( Ritz Carlton)! Better condition and better layout.

Blustery Scottish Kind of Day

Family 4some the day after Christmas was a flash back to the Scottish Links. Strong wind from the North, very cool, hazy, but surprising good putting greens. Course is a fun day out always, blend of long and straight and good water placement for challenges. Great course for $70 round ( you need to watch GN as I can’t say it would be worth $130+ that shows up sometimes). With OakMarsh still not open, best course and value in the area. Back next week!

Great track

Very windy day, but course conditions were magnificent. Staff was super friendly and greens were lightning fast as as usual fairways in great shape, especially for being this time of year and the bar staff was very friendly.

Overall course condition was very good! The bunkers were the only thing that could use some improvement, very little sand in them !

We come to Amelia Island twice a year and Amelia River is always on our list of courses to play. It was in great shape as usual. Pace of play was good and the staff could not be more welcoming.
