About
The Amelia River Club is located on Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville and within minutes of the historic town of Fernandina Beach. Renowned as one of the best-conditioned courses in the area with incredibly smooth greens, sculpted around a forest of majestic Live Oaks, Sable Palms, Pines and Wax Myrtles.
This par 72 track, designed by Tom Jackson, plays to a yardage of 6,823 from the back tees. It's pristine condition features well manicured rolling fairways, smooth bunkers and greens that challenge all skill levels. This course is unique in character and is a treat to play.
The Amelia River consists of 18 holes of challenging golf where ball control and accuracy are keys to a great game. The fairways are wide and open, giving the golfer a sense of a traditional Scottish links course on some holes and a narrow tree lined experience on others. The 13th hole is a good example of the course’s challenges. This long par five runs along the border of the Fernandina Beach Airport and is a strategic three shot hole. Too long and left at lay up and you will have to deal with a water hazard. The wind can play havoc with this hole as it reminds one of an open links style design. In contrast #9 is a tree lined par four with very little room for error and includes a forced carry over Alligator Creek.
The signature 17th hole is a par three surrounded by water demanding an accurate shot to the island green which closely resembles another very famous golf hole in our area! The final hole ends at the edge of the Amelia River and its expansive tidal marsh.

Slow Foursome
We played the course for the first time. The first thing you notice is the rough is a sea of dormant Bermuda. The fairways were better but the dormant grass took away from the visual appeal of the course. There was a slow foursome in front of us and no ranger to speed them up. The back nine was excruciating with four groups on one par 5 hole - on the green, two in the fairway and one on the tee. There is no excuse for this. We waited on every hole and the foursome in front of us just meandered along.

Course could be great, but staff inside and bag guys are like they are doing you a favor, even after tipping..
Greens were good with decent speed. Fairways ripped with divots, some fixed, most not
Pace of play, even with ranger sending us thru 1 foursome was unacceptable

My favorite course on/ near Amelia
Course is in great shape. Great layout-a few "thinkers" here. Staff is friendly and helpful. One drawback today was a little congestion on an understandably busy Sunday afternoon- could've had a ranger keeping pace and distance between players. I'll be going back- and bringing friends/ family.

Amazing Course
This course is awesome. The layout is very fun and the staff is super friendly. It isn’t cheap, but always feel like it’s a great value. Greens and tee boxes are almost always in good condition.

Awesome greens
Play here about once a month and it never disappoints. Greens are fast and very readable, very receptive to approach shots. Layout is a lot of fun. If you haven’t played here, go for it

Amelia River Club
First time playing here and I’ll definitely play again. We were met with friendly staff outside and inside. The greens were perfect, rolled at about 10 to 11 and were true. The first hole has a small stream that runs in front of the green, we were told about it and knew how to approach it. The 18th also has a stream (much wider) which was a surprise, the reason for 4 vs. 5 stars. Maybe have a larger sign identifying the creek or at least make it more visible. Overall it was a very enjoyable round despite the wind, can’t wait to play here again.
