Sun Village Golf Course
About
Sun Village Golf Course, although located within a retirement community, offers a challenging game. This par-3 course has three sets of tee boxes to accommodate most skill levels and abilities. It has plenty of water on the back nine, adding to its difficulty. Although the course has homes surrounding it, there is still a laid back and quiet atmosphere. Since the golf course is aimed towards seniors, it is easy to walk although it does have a winding layout that some golfers get lost on. The Sun Village Golf Course being only for seniors is a misconception though, since the course offers a good game.

Plenty of water holes! Photo submitted by LAmmeson on 04/27/2021
Nearly $100 poorly spent
I am 58 and my 30 something year old son and 7-year-old granddaughter that I introduced to the game of golf came into town from out of state. I thought Sun Village would be a great course to enjoy for the three of us. I purchased 18 holes for the three of us on golf now for nearly $80. I brought my pushcart, and we purchased 2 push carts for my son and granddaughter’s bags for another $10. My granddaughter’s bag is 2 foot tall and did not fit on the rental pushcart. My son was going to place my granddaughters 4 clubs in his bag and quickly from out of the clubhouse the employee informed us we couldn’t do that and that she didn’t want to get calls about walkalongs. Needless to say, we had to place my granddaughter’s bag on top of my son’s bags and off we went. At probably hole 6 here comes the bag police/ranger. He says we can’t do that. I am like can’t do what? He says everyone needs a bag and that he also didn’t want to get calls. Again, we had to show him we had 3 bags. He never asked if we paid for 2 or 3 players. It is a retirement community and even if you pay full greens fees, they have a problem with the number of bags. He didn’t even take into consideration my granddaughter is probably not even 4 foot tall. Sounds like maybe residents don’t pay their greens fees and/or they don’t want wives or husbands walking along to watching their spouses enjoy the game of golf. A golf course built not to be enjoyed, imagine that. For a short Par 3 course the experience overshadowed the course’s well-kept condition. Not sure why the course is even opened to the public. The HOA/residents should just bear the entire cost for to maintain the course and have the restrictive rules for their residents. Having the restrictive rules for the public just sends a negative message about your community. We paid our greens fees, had three bags and still felt hassled. Nine holes was enough for us and won’t be back. Golf is a family game for us. I will not tolerate my granddaughter not feeling welcomed or feeling that she had done something wrong. We won’t be back.
Looking to work on your short game
If you are hoping to be hitting bomber, this isn’t the course for you. It’s a par 3 18, there are a few holes where you can use your 9 iron but even that is too much at times.
I played most of it with my wedges…
Fun to play if you want to work on your short game, good for practice. It is a walking course as well, not motorized cart.
Very nice course
I’ve played this one a couple of times and have never been disappointed. Green elevations made it a challenge. Course is tucked into a beautiful community and the houses call for accuracy. This one is definitely worth a try.
Great course for practicing Irons.
Love the course . Fun to play with some challenging water holes. Always have friendly staff.
Possible birdies for everyone
The lady staff is the best! she always great us with a smile. The greens are pretty decent and the flag placement sometimes are challenging. Prepare to tune up your iron game, helps you prepare for long courses. My son almost got a hole in one on the 18th hole (159yrds). He always gets a birdie every time we play Sun Village.
Short and tight course
Good for iron tune ups. Not easy as the lengths are variable. If you hit it straight the greens are playable.
Well Maintained and Improved
Used to have duck fecal on the green especially near the pond and 2 inch tall fairway grass but the now everything is really great. The green is also maintained well. I kept coming back here if I want to work on my short game.
Great course for my wife who plays little. She was very comfortable.
Easy beginner course
My wife, a novice to the game, loved playing here.
