Dalmilling - got to play it
With all the courses in Ayrshire, Dalmilling might be a course you might have driven by if you live in the region. It is possibly one of the less popular courses on the Troon Links courses, however certainly offers great value and enjoyment. Course layout is fair and there are some great holes, playing up and downhill. Certainly not the longest but white tees should provide extra challenge. Course is relatively soft/muddy especially late in the season or after heavy rain but greens were still OK - despite being sanded recently. Only 18 holes game on offer so allow around 3.5 hours for a round if there is no traffic. General condition was good but not amazing ,but definitely best value you get for 11£ in Ayrshire. Go and check it out. I will be back again maybe mid season and see if I can break my first score.
Tees were very poor
The first eleven holes are decent after that it becomes a bit boring, no facilities available on the day, the starter was very helpful. I wouldn’t play it again, decent course for beginners
Interesting
Thought we would try this due to cost, cheap for a reason. Too narrow, fairways on each hole too close together, people just wander about going for walks don’t care you trying to play golf, kids wandering over green while we’re hitting onto it. Will definitely not go back.
Poor condition
Poor condition on fairways and rough covered in grass cuttings, only decent condition part of course was the greens. Signage for first time visitors lack of, required members knowledge to find way around and needed to use map of course to navigate. Tee boxes in poor condition and had aot of mud balls resulting in pick up to Clean mud balls majority of shots which should not be needed in summer plus a lot of grass stuck to shoes from boggy parts of course.
Shabby but challenging
Nice enough course, some good holes, friendly.
But bunkers appalling, v few rakes, lots of litter, facilities/ bar closed on a Saturday afternoon.
The Course was good
The course was in nice condition with some good holes, the rubbish on the course was bad mainly due to seagulls, they needed tops on the bins.
Lovely course with very friendly staff and members
Days golf
The fairways were were covered in previous grass cuttings and the grass was too long some were not as bad as others. The greens were not to bad. It just needs the fairways cut more regularly
Terrible course, not helped by the weather
Very boggy course, fairways in poor condition, dead cut grass left everywhere, weird layout. Greens were ok but not great. Altogether a disappointing experience
Excellent
Nice course, decent condition for time of year.My own course had 18 winter greens, and frozen solid, this one was full greens ,soft underfoot, and only 9 quid a head.Defo value for money, will probably go down again in spring or summer to play again.
