Duddingston Golf Club

About
Three-time Open champion Willie Park initially designed the Duddingston Golf Club, which opened way back in 1895, and, over the hundred-some years since, changes to Park's architecture have only enhanced it. John Shade and Bill Biggar extended it in the 1960s and 1970s, adding a new tee to the 12th hole, and bringing it to its current length of 6,525 yards. A parkland golf course that undulates gently - "Duddingston" is Gaelic for "sunny side of the hill" - the course sees meticulous maintenance and offers an excellent test, as the Braid Burn winds through fairways, challenging golfers on several holes.
A round of golf at the Duddingston Golf Club kicks off with muscle on Deer Park, a par-5 hole that measures 495 yards from the white tees. It's just one of four par-5s on the course, the others being the fourth hole, the 489-yard Death or Glory; the monster 537-yard eighth hole, Gates; and the 500-yard 17th, Pond. The final hole is a relative breeze: R.D.B.M. is a par-4 that measures a mere 356 yards.

Delightful Duddingston
Very friendly welcome from the professional, brilliant breakfast rolls in the very busy clubhouse, lovely course with superb greens and great views up to Arthur’s seat. Would highly recommend playing here. I holed a long range bunker shot at the fourth which added to the enjoyment on a warm sunny day. Thanks to all.
Great challenges with blind spots...
Have a great round, lucky to have one local companion with tons of knowledge about the course. The hilly couse layout was great challange for me as we can not see the green / landing area. Get ready with your stamina to walk up n down the hill. The green is in good condition with medium speed. The par 4s and 5s are long but reachable for good golfers. Better to have range finders / watch / app, as there's minimum distance mark on the course.
Last minute opportunity
Hats off to Malcom in the pro shop, restaurant staff, and the members we met. Exceptionally friendly and welcoming.
The course was in very nice condition, layout fairly straightforward. Great scenery of Arthur’s Seat and the Castle in the distance. Great value for the experience!
Lovely course but could use some upkeep
Really nice course and played late Sunday so had the place to myself. Some of the greens and particularly the tees were a bit worn and could do with some tlc. Fairways and green aprons were fine.
1st Scotland course..
Good course with some trees.. I found greens and some tee boxes were close together so wasn’t sure to hit or not.. also two holes that had blind shots.. you were to listen for the bell before teeing off.. would have been good to know before the round…
Friendly staff in the bar but closed early.
First time Scotland golf
Great course… good putting greens no driving range hit into a net to warm the irons and woods up….
Could have been told about the two bells that are rung when the fairway gets clear….
First time
Staff and course were excellent. Only waited on one hole to tee off. The married couple that runs the bar and kitchen were super friendly and the gentleman tending the pro shop was very helpful.
A great game within the City
Great location and very welcoming in the pro shop. Great views and fast greens
Some really nice holes
It's a popular course and you can see why. A relatively flat layout which makes for a pleasant walk. Quite a short course for a par 72 with some lovely holes.
The duddingston!
Great course, great condition for this time of year ! Can't wait to play it again and the staff were very helpful!
