Forget the golf, visit Kinghorn Golf Club for the views. Okay, maybe you don't want to forget the golf altogether, but you'll certainly want to pack a camera along with your golf clubs. Located in Fife, this 18-hole links golf course plays with a backdrop of the Firth of Forth. From the course you can see the Forth Bridge, Edinburgh and its landmarks, and Bass Rock.

The course at Kinghorn Golf Club is 5,166 yards and a par 65. You get tested right away on No. 2, a 219-yard par 3 that's trickier than it looks, what with an uphill shot that's normally straight into the wind. No. 3, another par 3, offers not a metaphoric wall but a literal one. Your tee shot has to clear it and stop on the green.

There are no par 5s at Kinghorn, but maybe there should be. The par 4s waver from the short - a 262-yard sixth that relies on you hitting your drive to the right place and your second shot accurately - and the ridiculously long, like the 462-yard eighth. Here you have to hit it long, but avoid the out of bounds on the left and hold on the sloping fairway.

Eight and No. 13 are generally considered the hardest at Kinghorn Golf Club. Thirteen - nicknamed "Lang Whang" - is a 439-yard par 4. The length is manageable, it's the "hitting into the wind" part that makes it tough. You finish on 18, the menacingly named "Cryin' Hill," a challenging 196-yard par 3.

Kinghorn Golf Club was founded in 1887, making it one of the oldest golf courses in Scotland. Starting as a nine-hole course, the final nine were finalized in 1947.

Kinghorn Golf Club

A great wee course.

It was good value for money (voucher)

My only complaint is. The tees could be better signposted, as we got mixed up a couple of times.

Really friendly vibe from the clubhouse & the members.

I would definitely go again.

Great value

It's quirky for sure but great fun . The views are fabulous . There are a few holes which share a wide fairway with a different hole but we didn't mind at all . We would thoroughly recommend it and great for the price

Winter Links

Course conditions great for a very cold February day. Full greens which played fast. Short course but challenging in places. Only criticism is that the layout is confusing as this was my first time here. Played to the wrong green once, but luckily a friendly member helped me out.

Quirky course

The ground was frozen so the actual golf was dire, will be back in the spring to play it properly.

Could do with better signage for "next hole" etc but apart from that I can't fault the course.

Quirky little course

I turned up early and got a bit of history of the club which was interesting, now I’d played here when I was 14 -16 yrs old almost 50 yrs ago and I’d remembered it as a 9 hole course? but it’s always been 18 holes? The starter offered us the opportunity to start early as a 2 ball as we’d booked to play with another 2 strangers which wasn’t a problem but we opted to go early!. I couldn’t really remember much of the course apart from the greens which have always like glass during the summer even at this time of year their speedy and due to some run offs on the greens you can find your first putt off the green! The course was in very good condition very well presented with fabulous views over the Firth of Forth, the Black Rock and Edinburgh In the distance. Although a couple of holes cross over each other it doesn’t impede play and due to good pictures of the hole on the tee it’s pretty obvious where the green is plus just aim for the marker posts their there for a reason! I played with my brother and we remembered the speed of the greens but the only hole we remembered was the old 18th the old green is now the Tee and you play up to a new green, this was changed years ago due to heath n Safety but it’s seared in to our memories or nightmares as it was a memorable hole! We loved our day at Kinghorn and we plan to visit again as we retrace our golfing youth and the courses of Fife!

Very friendly place and you’re made feel welcome. Breakfast is fabulous and would certainly recommend before you play.

Course was in good condition and the greens were in great condition for this time of year. Very busy course but still managed round in under 4hrs.

Pleasure to play👍

Not too long, but stiff

Not a long course, but this excellent links course is quite physically demanding and that’s from someone who is pretty fit. It’s also challenging from a golf point of view. The course was kept in superb condition and is worth a visit. Views are spectacular.

Little Gem

We come to Fife every year and this is one of the courses we always play. Don't expect and easy game . Although the course isn't that long ( unless you attempt the white tees. Not for the faint hearted) it's got plenty of challenges. A links course with amazing views at quarter the price of many in the area.
