Forget the golf, visit Kinghorn Golf Club for the views. Okay, maybe you don't want to forget the golf altogether, but you'll certainly want to pack a camera along with your golf clubs. Located in Fife, this 18-hole links golf course plays with a backdrop of the Firth of Forth. From the course you can see the Forth Bridge, Edinburgh and its landmarks, and Bass Rock.

The course at Kinghorn Golf Club is 5,166 yards and a par 65. You get tested right away on No. 2, a 219-yard par 3 that's trickier than it looks, what with an uphill shot that's normally straight into the wind. No. 3, another par 3, offers not a metaphoric wall but a literal one. Your tee shot has to clear it and stop on the green.

There are no par 5s at Kinghorn, but maybe there should be. The par 4s waver from the short - a 262-yard sixth that relies on you hitting your drive to the right place and your second shot accurately - and the ridiculously long, like the 462-yard eighth. Here you have to hit it long, but avoid the out of bounds on the left and hold on the sloping fairway.

Eight and No. 13 are generally considered the hardest at Kinghorn Golf Club. Thirteen - nicknamed "Lang Whang" - is a 439-yard par 4. The length is manageable, it's the "hitting into the wind" part that makes it tough. You finish on 18, the menacingly named "Cryin' Hill," a challenging 196-yard par 3.

Kinghorn Golf Club was founded in 1887, making it one of the oldest golf courses in Scotland. Starting as a nine-hole course, the final nine were finalized in 1947.

Great course with history

Great little course quite tricky at times with some blind tee shots loads of history, for the price it's hard to say anything negative, greens and course in great condition.

Will play again when in area.

Kinghorn not the longest but a real challenge in the wind

Loved our visit to Kinghorn. The course was in great condition and every hole different. When we played was extremely windy so added to the challenge 😎

Fantastic course

1st time playing a links course and wow what an introduction the views over the forth are stunning the course was in great condition and though on paper it appears easy it is anything but saying that even for a high handicapper like myself it wasn’t unplayable in fact it was a really good test and I came off with a smile on my face and wanting to go back on to the first tee and do it again

Great and challenging links(ish) course

This was a treat!

Views are stunning

Staff were helpful and friendly and first impressions of the course

We're that it looked stunning and challenging.

Neither of those impressions turned out to be incorrect . The course is quite short but there is gorse, walls and bunkers ( some very deep ) that provide a real challenge.

We couldn't keep our ball on the 18th due to high winds that kept blowing them off! - but that just added to the fun

Some off the holes kriss cross each other so care needs to be taken, but we really enjoyed playing here

Incredible links golf course for the price

At £14, I haven't found ANY course that gives such a good deal and gives you this much fun, scenery and challenge!

Greens are firm and slanted, tee shots are long and sometimes blind. You get some relief when you see a couple of wide open tee shots, but you'll often be rewarded by a small and barrow green to attack. It's absolutely brilliant.

Would have paid £40-£50 for this course.

A Good Selection of Holes

A Warm welcome, course layout explained to us well and then allowed to play a well laid out course condensed into a good use of space. As it is a links course we benefitted by some good/lucky bounces with some shots going further than expected. Some really quirky holes as befits an 'Old Tom Morris' inspired course. Really enjoyable wee course which we got round relatively quickly but hugely enjoyable. Well worth a round.

Looking for a Saturday Link

A difficult and a course demand strong physicality with lots of terrain changes up a down! A links course with many challenges but also high difficulty. My biggest concern was how many holes cross-crossed and you need to be aware so not to hit anyone very tight course!

My favorite course, hands down!

This course is a gem, and it really is my favorite course in Scotland. Yes, there are bigger name courses around Fife, but none of them compare with the fun layout, course conditions and views of the Firth of Forth from every hole you’ll find at Kinghorn. The staff is great, too. Honestly, I almost hate to post this review for fear the course will be discovered by the masses and become overcrowded!
