St. Croix National Golf Club
About
St. Croix National Golf Course is a championship course that is tucked away amongst rolling, wooded hills. This scenic course is one of western Wisconsin's hidden gems. The undulating landscape covered with mature trees can seem intimidating but the layout was designed with spacious fairways and bailout areas that act as an excellent balance to the more challenging elements. The well conditioned greens putt fast and true, acting as a perfect complement to the beautiful scenery. There are strategically placed bunkers and water hazards coming into play but it is the topography will truly test your accuracy as well as a variety of other skills. St. Croix National G.C. also boasts a driving range perched high above a valley that collects the practice shots. It is the perfect preparation for the challenges of the golf course.

Better than I expected
After reading all the reviews, I was expecting a really bad course but was pleasantly surprised. The layout was better than expected, despite being built on an old ski hill. Other than the 14th hole, most seemed pretty fair. Now, if you can't elevate your shots more than 30 feet and carry the ball more than 150 yards, this course is the Bataan Death March across the Swiss Alps. But for good players, it's an interesting track.
Unfortunately, course conditions were just okay. The greens were good, but the rough was in bad shape with lots of weeds, meaning they are short cash and can't afford to treat the rough. I had the course to myself mid-day in late May, that's not good.
Fall Golf in Minn.
understanding they have limited ground crew, no tee markers, leaves could have been better. Not worth the price at the golf course------UNLESS you use GOLF NOW
Course has beautiful scenery.
This is a beautiful course! Some what challenging , however, course management will help tremendously!
Awesome Views
Absolutely stunning venues from nearly every hole. This course is in excellent condition and is definitely worth the drive. Good value on golf now. Course plays a little slow because of all of the trees. The facilities are nothing special but who goes to the course for the facility anyway.
Golf at this course a couple of times a year.
We really enjoy golfing at this course!
Beautiful Scenery Makes the Experience
I play this course about once each year. I always come back because it is such a beautiful setting. There are huge elevation changes (carts are a must unless you're up for some serious cardio). I am about an eighteen handicap, and this course is very playable for me from the whites.
Currently the greens have been sanded, so your approach will hold on the green, but your putt will not break as much as you'd think.
I will certainly return to St. Croix National, if you haven't tried it you should. .
Gimmicky
It's a very scenic course with many elevated tees but not very playable for the golf purist. Almost every hole has something goofy to it. It would be extremely helpful to have gps in the carts to help visualize the hole and get yardages to layup points. We had a foursome and none of us had played the course before so it was slow going. The ranger was rushing us for three holes and it totally ruined the experience.
Immaculate condition
Enjoyed playing this course for the first time...I will be back...Staff very professional and friendly...Glad I played with two members since several holes from the tee were strange...#14 is a nightmare...Lay up off the tee!...Greens putted true.
Fun course
Good fairways, tough rough, great greens. It's a little shaggy around woods and rough, but fairways are very good and greens are as good as it gets.(if you hit them!) Bring extra ammo, you're gonna need it.
Scenic gem with great golf holes and true greens
Played July 6th from gold tees. Moving up made the course fair. Fairways and greens in excellent condition. This is a scenic course with many different elevations, dog legs and blind shots to challenge your golf smarts. The clubhouse and grounds are well kept and staff is very friendly. I recommend anyone playing for the first time to buy guidebook, play tees realistic to your skills and you will love the beauty and challenge of this course. I am 69 and hit my drives straight to about 225 yards. I found the golds to be a great fit for my game. Our group will definitely play this on a frequent basis. A great senior value with very puttable greens.
St Croix National
Played this course before and it is always a good time. Yesterday was a little different as we had a single in front of us that thought it was ok to hit 2 or 3 balls each hole and slowed things down. An employee came out after we said something but as soon as the guy went back to the club house he started up again so kinda took some of the fun out of the day.
GO play...
I WOULD GO BACK.TO PLAY WHENEVERY I GET THE CHANCE.
Nice course
Good course, with a lot of elevation changes. you don't get a lot of flat lies, but it is very scenic. Worth the money!!

I have enjoyed this area since skiing Snowcrest in the 70's. Very sentimental and challenging!

Good day!
Can't complain about playing golf in early to mid March in MN. The course was in good condition considering it's early march. Got a great deal on Golfnow. This course is always fun with it's unique layout. Some holes I love, some I am not so crazy about, but I always enjoy the challenge.
Jnproulx,
Thank you very much for the awesome 5-star review! We are pleased that the weather has allowed us to open in mid March and we look forward to a warm Spring! See you again soon?!

Holy Bleep
Grabbed a cart and headed to the range to work out the booze we had the night before. Guys weekend brought us to this little gem in Wisconsin. The driving range is hilariously beautiful. You cant judge how far you're hitting anything or see your ball land. It's on the top of a dramatic overlook and you just bomb balls into the wild blue yonder. I loved it! We come from NW Minnesota where all you get 95% of the time are flat, links-style courses. We come in search of courses with some character and elevation change. This was perfect!! The starter was a very friendly man who gave us some tips on how to play the first hole depending on how far we drove the ball since you can't see the fairway on that first hole! There are many blind shots on this course. We found ourselves driving ahead multiple times to find out where we wanted to aim. I'm sure this is a common practice at this course. We weren't holding anybody up though....I think they do a good job with their pace of play. This was such a fun course for us flatlanders and I would definitely play it again and recommend it to anyone. The only beef I had with the place was the lack of gps carts. Seems like a necessity. We rented a terrible gps unit and not only was it impossible to see with the sun glare, it was slow and cumbersome. We just gave up on it after a few holes. DO NOT walk this course. It will be a nightmare from which you will never wake up. Overall.......simply gorgeous. Can't wait to go back!
perfect day to play
Pace of play was fine with the great weather and fall golf the leaves made the pace a little slow. The views were still awesome
