St. Croix National Golf Course is a championship course that is tucked away amongst rolling, wooded hills. This scenic course is one of western Wisconsin's hidden gems. The undulating landscape covered with mature trees can seem intimidating but the layout was designed with spacious fairways and bailout areas that act as an excellent balance to the more challenging elements. The well conditioned greens putt fast and true, acting as a perfect complement to the beautiful scenery. There are strategically placed bunkers and water hazards coming into play but it is the topography will truly test your accuracy as well as a variety of other skills. St. Croix National G.C. also boasts a driving range perched high above a valley that collects the practice shots. It is the perfect preparation for the challenges of the golf course.

Scenic, challenging course

Must play the course more than once to know what you are in for. Beautiful, scenic views of the St. Croix river valley. Hole 14 needs a redesign badly. (Move the tees up and make it a driveable par 4?). Enjoyable course!

beautiful and challenging

Your first time playing can be intimidating starting with the first tee...blind tee shot from significant elevation.
Beautiful course with real challenges throughout, a joy to play especially if you're hitting it solid.
If I had any complaints:
1) The course doesn't appear to maintain their bunkers and there's huge rocks galore.
2) And of course it wouldn't be Wisconsin without people not fixing their pitch marks and dragging their feet across the greens.

Tough Course

This course needs to be played a few times before one can score well. The greens were in pretty good shape except for 16 which had racing stripes on it. Bring a few extra golf balls. Many blind shots and tons of undulation. Feels like a mountain couse. Cannot be walked.

Rough Shape

The course had large patches of torn up fairway on 4 - 5 holes. Clubhouse couldn't offer towels on a wet day with no customers. Beer cans laying all around 18th green and in the woods. Carts were sluggish. Bunkers were not rimmed anywhere.

Oh Boy!! What a course!!

OK, I will preface this by saying if you're a high handicapper, this course is not for you. That being said....
What a jewel!!
Beautiful setting, it feels like you've stepped back from n time, and are enjoying the landscape as our forefathers did.
Lots of blind shots. Lots of uphill/downhill shots.
If you're hitting the ball relatively straight, you'll enjoy this course.

Good Course - Dismal Service...

I have played this course before and I really like the course, pretty, challenging an excellent golf experience... What was most disappointing about my recent trip was the unfriendliness of the staff... On a Sunday afternoon 2:30 tee time we were told that we need to have a cart back by 6:00... This is NOT a 3.5 hour course - lots of hills, challenging golf and a great distance between green and tee box... Even when we finished the clubhouse was locked and the staff was waiting for use to show up and depart like a get away car for a robbery,,, We had to asked to have the facilities to be unlocked prior to our drive home... I do enjoy the course, but was quite disappointed with the staff and service on a quite Snnday afternoon...

Incredible views on incredibly difficult course

Drove 50 minutes to the course not knowing what to expect and was thoroughly impressed. There were countless blind shots making things very difficult. Every hole was impressive. Course was in great shape except for a few weird lines of dead grass on two greens. One of my favorite courses I have played this year. I can't wait to go back.

Interesting, varied course.

Built on very hilly, wooded terrain, a cart is almost mandatory. Very scenic views, with many downhill and uphill shots required. Strategic planning is advised: Hit to a spot with the next shot in mind. Wayward shots will cost dearly, so keep your ball on the fairway! No. 14 might be a bit unfair, requiring a lay-up drive for many players. Even a good straight drive might not be found or may be unplayable. I would recommend the course trim the downslope area to make it semi-playable. There wasn't any water available on the course, which on a hot, muggy day was definitely not appreciated. Greens putt fairly true, but fast. Play this course if you get a chance, and bring a few extra balls!

This course was a great deal for the money!

Course was in great conditions except for 2 greens that had what looked like burns on them from the mower.

Blindshotville!

When you get to the first tee, you clearly realize it's going to be a day of blind tee shots. However, the course is manageable if you drive up and look where you're going! Greens are good, elevation changes are dramatic, and the price is right
