St. Croix National Golf Club
About
St. Croix National Golf Course is a championship course that is tucked away amongst rolling, wooded hills. This scenic course is one of western Wisconsin's hidden gems. The undulating landscape covered with mature trees can seem intimidating but the layout was designed with spacious fairways and bailout areas that act as an excellent balance to the more challenging elements. The well conditioned greens putt fast and true, acting as a perfect complement to the beautiful scenery. There are strategically placed bunkers and water hazards coming into play but it is the topography will truly test your accuracy as well as a variety of other skills. St. Croix National G.C. also boasts a driving range perched high above a valley that collects the practice shots. It is the perfect preparation for the challenges of the golf course.

Good shape for the amount of rain we had
Course has good drainage with the amount of rain there was in the last week. Well maintained. some standing water in the sand traps.
Hills galore
Lots of steep hills to hit up. More elevated tees than not.any blind shots from tees and fairways.
If you play here make sure you play wih somebody who has played it before.
Tee boxes were in bad shape. Front nine greens pretty bad but back nine greens were nice. Most fairways looked real nice.
The views are awesome.
THis place should turn into an ATV park and people would love it.
You could not walk this course even if you were in great physical condition.
I would not go back.
Nice course but difficult
Cart was dirty with trash in it.
Had to ask for a scorecard and a pencil.
Vey minor problems was an overall great experience.
Bring lots of balls
Course slope from the white tees is 121 and I feel the course plays much harder. I am a bogey golfer and I shot over 100. Bring lots of balls.
Bring some balls
First time playing this course and was very impressed & challenged. There are many blind shots so accuracy and proper club selection is a must. In 18 holes I only pulled my driver out of the bag 5 times. There are heart-pounding elevated tees that get you excited, but just relax and don't try to crush it, doing so will more than likely get you into trouble: water, woods, tall grass, sand, etc... are all in play on every hole. Also, make sure to load up a cooler before you head out, the beverage cart(s) were nowhere to be found when we played. We'll definitely go back in the fall when the colors are on the trees.
Perfect Track!
Pristine conditions and variety of hole designs made for an interesting and excellent afternoon. Bring all your clubs... you'll need them :)
Mediocre Golf Experience - St. Croix National
If you enjoy blind shots and losing golf balls, St. Croix National is your course. The views are beautiful on some holes, but I personally didn't enjoy the turns and wacky layout of many holes. I also had a bad experience booking a prepaid tee time through golfnow.com. I received an email confirmation that my tee time was booked, and I verified that my credit card had been charged. However, the golf course had no record of my tee time and gave away my tee time to another group. I basically had to beg for them to honor my prepaid rate via golfnow.com, and I had to take a less convenient tee time. No water or beverage carts were available on the course during a sunny 80+ degree day.
Beautiful, but challenging.
Beautiful, but challenging. And I plan to go back again.
Ok.
I played Tue am at 820. Played in 3 hours which was great. Course was ok - needs some work. Back 9 had 3-4 greens that still had cuts in them. Tee boxes need work too.
Overall ok round.
Ups and Downs!
This is a course with beautiful views. There are significant elevation changes on almost every hole, with either elevated tees or greens that are elevated above the fairway. The fairways and greens were in very good condition. The major drawback to the course is that there are a number of blind tee shots with no way to tell where the group in front of you is, until you see them by the green. On at least one hole even that is not possible because of the dogleg. You just wait until you think they have moved ahead. Still, it is a nice course and I'll be back.
Great Staff
Very, very scenic course. Very, very hilly course. Carts a must! Staff was extremely friendly.
Ball Gobbler
Many blind tee shots and approaches. If ball isn't on the fairway, it is lost.
No fun
Unless you love bad lies, inconsistent greens and no idea where your next shot should go, I'd say no thanks.
Beautiful first round of the year at St Croix National
The course was in great shape. Greens were perfect!
We had a great day enjoying the weather and the beauty of the course. I only wish the scores would have been better.
This course is hilly and there are some great dramatic views. It is always great to play this course.
Tough but fair.
I heard this was a course that was not like any in the area. TRUE! I was blown away by the views. There is some winter damage in a few fairways but with the winter we had that's understandable. Greens and tees are in great shape. It looks like they had a hydro leak on two greens. Other then that great! If you want to get away from the same old same old golf course give this course a shot.
Lots of challenges
Greens good, work on fairway winter damage complete. Should be in good shape with a little warm weather.
conditions were better than to be expected given the harsh winter and an early season around
Many elevation changes, not an easy course to walk for the faint of heart. Expect some blind approach shots.
Fun
Weather ended up better then we thought for first time out was real fun. Just make sure you don't walk!
Scenic, challenging course
Must play the course more than once to know what you are in for. Beautiful, scenic views of the St. Croix river valley. Hole 14 needs a redesign badly. (Move the tees up and make it a driveable par 4?). Enjoyable course!
beautiful and challenging
Your first time playing can be intimidating starting with the first tee...blind tee shot from significant elevation.
Beautiful course with real challenges throughout, a joy to play especially if you're hitting it solid.
If I had any complaints:
1) The course doesn't appear to maintain their bunkers and there's huge rocks galore.
2) And of course it wouldn't be Wisconsin without people not fixing their pitch marks and dragging their feet across the greens.
FIX YOUR BALL MARKS and PICK UP YOUR FEET!
