St. Croix National Golf Club
About
St. Croix National Golf Course is a championship course that is tucked away amongst rolling, wooded hills. This scenic course is one of western Wisconsin's hidden gems. The undulating landscape covered with mature trees can seem intimidating but the layout was designed with spacious fairways and bailout areas that act as an excellent balance to the more challenging elements. The well conditioned greens putt fast and true, acting as a perfect complement to the beautiful scenery. There are strategically placed bunkers and water hazards coming into play but it is the topography will truly test your accuracy as well as a variety of other skills. St. Croix National G.C. also boasts a driving range perched high above a valley that collects the practice shots. It is the perfect preparation for the challenges of the golf course.

Simply Majestic
Aside from a few blind shots and some interesting inclines/declines with the cart, this place resembles mountain golfing. Truly a stunning experience. The staff and facilities are classy and accommodating and their practice area is fun and inviting to novice learners. I highly recommend SCN to anyone looking for a very sincere golf experience.
St Croix National
We played this course for the first time this year and the third time ever. The course was in fairly good condition for the weather we've had this year. The fairways and greens were green and the rough should be catching up soon. I enjoy playing course that are scenic and have lots of hills and valleys. If you're looking for a challenging course without and a view check it out if you're near Somerset, Wisconsin.
Beautiful course.
Most holes are with scenic view. Need a cart. Don't even know they allow to walk. Very challenging course.
Great course, great value
course was in great condition considering the time of year. The staff was outstanding and very helpful. I would recommend this golf course to all level of players.
great course. nice friendly staff
My last course review was not a good one for a different course, so I felt compelled to write one on a good course.. this was the second time in two years playing this course because of the distance from my home. Well worth the drive from the Western suburbs.
Spectacular fall colors
Great time to go is in the fall to enjoy the beautiful hills and valleys.
Lots of extremely elevated greens and side hill lies make it tough for the beginners or hackers of the world. Greens are very challenging that can add strokes quickly to your score.
Its definitely worth the drive to try to conquer this course
beautiful scenery on every hole
There are many blind shots on this course but each hole is a view to remember. Significant elevation changes. It would be difficult to walk this course. I played from the tips and if not for the playing partner who was familiar with the course I would have had no idea where to hit some of the shots. Adjustment to elevation can affect your score.
Scenic and Challenging
St. Croix National is a beautiful course. The elevation and deep woods feel are spectacular. There are blind shots that may give you some trouble on your first trip out there, but the knowledge you gain should make a return trip easier.
The greens are pretty fast and very receptive. The course plays long. (or at least it did that day) There was not much roll on the fairways. We played the blues and found it to be a very fair test and fun to play.
I will definitley be back for another round next year.
What was I thinking???
This has to be the most tricked up golf course I have ever played. Long carries over steep hills, blind shots, radically evelvated par 3's and add to this witches brew, extremely slow play w/o ranger in sight. Before I played here a friend told me I would be insane to play here that's why I am writing this review from a rubber room. If you happen to know a haughty self-centered golf braggert send him here if you want to utterly destroy his or her self image.
Good shape for the amount of rain we had
Course has good drainage with the amount of rain there was in the last week. Well maintained. some standing water in the sand traps.
Hills galore
Lots of steep hills to hit up. More elevated tees than not.any blind shots from tees and fairways.
If you play here make sure you play wih somebody who has played it before.
Tee boxes were in bad shape. Front nine greens pretty bad but back nine greens were nice. Most fairways looked real nice.
The views are awesome.
THis place should turn into an ATV park and people would love it.
You could not walk this course even if you were in great physical condition.
I would not go back.
Nice course but difficult
Cart was dirty with trash in it.
Had to ask for a scorecard and a pencil.
Vey minor problems was an overall great experience.
Bring lots of balls
Course slope from the white tees is 121 and I feel the course plays much harder. I am a bogey golfer and I shot over 100. Bring lots of balls.
Bring some balls
First time playing this course and was very impressed & challenged. There are many blind shots so accuracy and proper club selection is a must. In 18 holes I only pulled my driver out of the bag 5 times. There are heart-pounding elevated tees that get you excited, but just relax and don't try to crush it, doing so will more than likely get you into trouble: water, woods, tall grass, sand, etc... are all in play on every hole. Also, make sure to load up a cooler before you head out, the beverage cart(s) were nowhere to be found when we played. We'll definitely go back in the fall when the colors are on the trees.
Perfect Track!
Pristine conditions and variety of hole designs made for an interesting and excellent afternoon. Bring all your clubs... you'll need them :)
Mediocre Golf Experience - St. Croix National
If you enjoy blind shots and losing golf balls, St. Croix National is your course. The views are beautiful on some holes, but I personally didn't enjoy the turns and wacky layout of many holes. I also had a bad experience booking a prepaid tee time through golfnow.com. I received an email confirmation that my tee time was booked, and I verified that my credit card had been charged. However, the golf course had no record of my tee time and gave away my tee time to another group. I basically had to beg for them to honor my prepaid rate via golfnow.com, and I had to take a less convenient tee time. No water or beverage carts were available on the course during a sunny 80+ degree day.
Beautiful, but challenging.
Beautiful, but challenging. And I plan to go back again.
Ok.
I played Tue am at 820. Played in 3 hours which was great. Course was ok - needs some work. Back 9 had 3-4 greens that still had cuts in them. Tee boxes need work too.
Overall ok round.
Ups and Downs!
This is a course with beautiful views. There are significant elevation changes on almost every hole, with either elevated tees or greens that are elevated above the fairway. The fairways and greens were in very good condition. The major drawback to the course is that there are a number of blind tee shots with no way to tell where the group in front of you is, until you see them by the green. On at least one hole even that is not possible because of the dogleg. You just wait until you think they have moved ahead. Still, it is a nice course and I'll be back.
