St. Croix National Golf Club
About
St. Croix National Golf Course is a championship course that is tucked away amongst rolling, wooded hills. This scenic course is one of western Wisconsin's hidden gems. The undulating landscape covered with mature trees can seem intimidating but the layout was designed with spacious fairways and bailout areas that act as an excellent balance to the more challenging elements. The well conditioned greens putt fast and true, acting as a perfect complement to the beautiful scenery. There are strategically placed bunkers and water hazards coming into play but it is the topography will truly test your accuracy as well as a variety of other skills. St. Croix National G.C. also boasts a driving range perched high above a valley that collects the practice shots. It is the perfect preparation for the challenges of the golf course.

very beautiful fall round
fall colors were great, course was in great condition.
hit 'em straight!
If you need an escape from wide open Prarie golf, this is the place. The dramatic topography and the tree lined fairways give this course it's character and charm. Very demanding from the tips, so you might want to play it forward, as I will do from now on. A real challenge. Make sure to get a yardage book with hole descriptions. You're gonna need it if it's your first time playing the course. Wouldn't want to walk this beast!
SCN
Overall the course is beautiful as a whole. The tee boxes were extremely beat up and some were sloping so the ball was above or below your feet at address. The one recommendation for the course would be to better label the distances from the tee boxes to a lay up area.
Beautiful Course
If you shoot in the 90s it would be a good idea to spend some time at the range to make sure your able to hit your spots. A little work on uphill and downhill shots wouldn't hurt either. It's definitely challenging, your not gonna blow it away your first time through, but your gonna want to take another wack at it. Not for the faint of heart. But golf is not for the faint of heart. I loved it! 19 hdcp
Beautiful views
Very challenging course, if you can't break 90 this course isn't for you. Lots of blind shots, hills and thick rough. Slow pace of play due to lost balls, sometimes well hit shots end up in bad spots.
Closest you'll get to mountain golf in Twin Cities
Friendly staff, well maintained grounds near the clubhouse, better than average short order food. The golf course was in good shape and the greens rolled true. I played on a hot/muggy Sunday afternoon so I'd suspect that the greens could get going a bit faster than what I experienced, but they were by no means slow. Great experience, will be back, would recommend.
A Course For Everyone
Great elevation changes, blind shots . Keep it in the fairway or the trees will get ya .
St.Croix review
The course was in great shape all around, the greens were in great shape. The driving range was nice and the chipping and putting area was very nice. However when it came to playing the course there were a ton of blind shots and the course had a few pretty poorly designed holes. You definitely have to play the course a few times before you actually become familiar with where to play your shots.
Not a National. Adventure golf at best..
Modern course without modern features. Maybe if I lived close to it to learn all the silly gimmicks, I would give it a chance. Tees in terrible condition. Domed cups. Otherwise, honestly in good shape. If they gave ANY info on the tees regarding the multitude of hazards, or offered GPS or even a little course guide, it could be fun. Too many gimmicks. Not a level lie in the house... This course annoyed me.
Nice course
The course was in good shape. You will use a lot of different clubs in your bag. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Simply Majestic
Aside from a few blind shots and some interesting inclines/declines with the cart, this place resembles mountain golfing. Truly a stunning experience. The staff and facilities are classy and accommodating and their practice area is fun and inviting to novice learners. I highly recommend SCN to anyone looking for a very sincere golf experience.
St Croix National
We played this course for the first time this year and the third time ever. The course was in fairly good condition for the weather we've had this year. The fairways and greens were green and the rough should be catching up soon. I enjoy playing course that are scenic and have lots of hills and valleys. If you're looking for a challenging course without and a view check it out if you're near Somerset, Wisconsin.
Beautiful course.
Most holes are with scenic view. Need a cart. Don't even know they allow to walk. Very challenging course.
Great course, great value
course was in great condition considering the time of year. The staff was outstanding and very helpful. I would recommend this golf course to all level of players.
great course. nice friendly staff
My last course review was not a good one for a different course, so I felt compelled to write one on a good course.. this was the second time in two years playing this course because of the distance from my home. Well worth the drive from the Western suburbs.
Spectacular fall colors
Great time to go is in the fall to enjoy the beautiful hills and valleys.
Lots of extremely elevated greens and side hill lies make it tough for the beginners or hackers of the world. Greens are very challenging that can add strokes quickly to your score.
Its definitely worth the drive to try to conquer this course
beautiful scenery on every hole
There are many blind shots on this course but each hole is a view to remember. Significant elevation changes. It would be difficult to walk this course. I played from the tips and if not for the playing partner who was familiar with the course I would have had no idea where to hit some of the shots. Adjustment to elevation can affect your score.
Scenic and Challenging
St. Croix National is a beautiful course. The elevation and deep woods feel are spectacular. There are blind shots that may give you some trouble on your first trip out there, but the knowledge you gain should make a return trip easier.
The greens are pretty fast and very receptive. The course plays long. (or at least it did that day) There was not much roll on the fairways. We played the blues and found it to be a very fair test and fun to play.
I will definitley be back for another round next year.
What was I thinking???
This has to be the most tricked up golf course I have ever played. Long carries over steep hills, blind shots, radically evelvated par 3's and add to this witches brew, extremely slow play w/o ranger in sight. Before I played here a friend told me I would be insane to play here that's why I am writing this review from a rubber room. If you happen to know a haughty self-centered golf braggert send him here if you want to utterly destroy his or her self image.
