Troon Links - Lochgreen

About
After or before chowing down on the clubhouse's "Scottish Fayre," take on Troon Links Lochgreen Course.
The Lochgreen Course at Troon Links is widely regarded as the best of the municipal golf courses in Troon, though all offer a great round of golf at prices hard to beat in Scotland.
Troon Links Lochgreen Course is facility's largest, a par-74 that parallels in parts Royal Troon Golf Club and has served as a qualifier for the Open. Jack Nicklaus, for one example, once shot an 82 on the golf course and needed to follow it up with a 68 to make the cut by one shot.

Loch Green
Still a lot of work to be done on the 2nd and 3rd holes. 11,12&13 were a bit wet underfoot.
V good value
Holes 2 and 3 are reduced from par 5’s to par 3’s. Got reduced rate because of this on website and it was excellent value. Lovely course.
Really friendly staff
Played during hard frost so all winter greens, there's a lot of work going on at holes 2 & 3 but this was explained to us at starter's office. For early January and all the rain we've had the course was in pretty good condition and no matter how good, winter greens are winter greens. The catering staff and standard of food on offer were great and the guy at the starters desk gave us a 50% off our next round voucher to make up for the course work and all winter greens. All in all we really enjoyed our day at Lochgreen.
Major work being carried out on 2 holes but still a great course in very good condition for time of year
Winter greens
Drove 40 mins to play course , played several times before , phoned before wee left to see if course open due to early morning frost .told course open . Got down there to be told winter greens , would not have went if new greens were off , waste of time and money
The Darley Course
We rearranged to play on the Darley course because it's a bit shorter than Lochgreen but the same applies to all three courses excellent to play great value and the staff whether the Pro shop the food or the very helpful starters just brilliant that was Monday 23rd October. Eric Black.
Lochgreen
Windy weather and wet conditions that week but course and greens in great condition.
Golfnow
Great day at Lochgreen ( Troon ) good value for money £25 and brilliant weather
Superb greens
Sunny and very little wind which helped my score for sure. Play off 5 and went round in +1. My best ever. Helped by pure greens like a carpet. My son played well too but only disappointment was no snacks or friendly welcome in the clubhouse. Not near the standard you would expect from a golf hub like Troon and we travelled a good distance to play too.
Lovely course and a fair challenge
Lochgreen is an option of 3 courses on offer at the Troon links set up. The course is well set up and the greens are fair but with some sneaky breaks to keep you guessing. The view are stunning and the facilities are very nice with very helpful staff.
This is a great value for money course.
I would recommend you pay attention to your course map on your scorecard as with 3 courses playing along side each other, you can get confused as to where to go next
Great course, immaculate greens!
Very nice links course. Course was in good shape but the greens were absolutely perfect, not a mark on them. Honestly the best greens I have played on this year.
Good links course challenge
Played a number of times in recent years. The course is long and challenging, with a parkland section from 11-14th holes. The clubhouse is great for lunch and closes at 3.30pm.
Lochgreen
Course was dry and fairways running but a bit bare of grass at this time of year . I used a fairway mat but that was my own preference . Not compulsory . Full greens were on . Greens always run true and good pace . Considering my own course in Glasgow was closed due to the weather it was great to get a game on a decent course . I will return no problem .
Smashing big long track
Great course to play if u want a good day out, love the amount of par 5s, don't count on a low score it's 74 off the yellows, thoroughly enjoyed it, some tough bunkers on the fairways. Only complaint is the rabbit holes throughout but can't do anything about that unfortunately, looking forward to playing it in the summer when the ball will run a lot further
Winter inland links
Facilities were tremendous. Nice clubhouse.
Front 9 which is more exposed to the coast was nice but holes all over the fairways from maybe moles or whatever. Not sure if they are allowed to do anything about it but they were pretty substantial in nearly every hole.
Back 9 I liked better. More parkland type but with the traditional links bunkers. Greens seemed in better condition here also.
Going to play Fullarton next week and I would still recommend lochgreen. Will return in the warmer months to play again.
