Troon Links - Lochgreen

About
After or before chowing down on the clubhouse's "Scottish Fayre," take on Troon Links Lochgreen Course.
The Lochgreen Course at Troon Links is widely regarded as the best of the municipal golf courses in Troon, though all offer a great round of golf at prices hard to beat in Scotland.
Troon Links Lochgreen Course is facility's largest, a par-74 that parallels in parts Royal Troon Golf Club and has served as a qualifier for the Open. Jack Nicklaus, for one example, once shot an 82 on the golf course and needed to follow it up with a 68 to make the cut by one shot.

Great Course
Great Course, always in very good condition and good value for money. I’ve played all 3, they are all well kept but prefer the layout of Lochgreen to the others.
Excellent and challenging
Course was undergoing a lot of maintenance however this didn’t really affect the 18 holes there where a few rabbit holes but again given the time of year and seeing the course undergoing a lot of maintenance I have no doubt it will be ready for next season great course recommend it to anyone will go back in the future
Conquered courses
I have played Lochgreen many times however considering the weather we have had this year the course was in great condition the greens were in fantastic condition I will definitely be back playing this course soon.
Lochgreen
1st time and the course was in great condition. Weather brilliant which helped

Played Lochgreen a number of times over recent years; first time this year.
Found the course in good condition although fairways seemed in poorer condition than previous visits. Greens were good but a bit dry.
We always find the staff friendly and professional and this trip was no different.
Becoming a bit pricey against other courses, however we will visit again.
Beuatiful Course
I played the Lochgreen in June 24. I had previously stayed at the Marine Troon and played Royal Troon and driven past the Lochgreen and though it looked worth a play. I returned the following year to play the Lochgreen and the Portland course at Royal Troon. I have to say i found the Loch green course far more enjoyable than the Portland course. The course is more attractive and far less penal. The Portland course was just a nightmare every time you strayed even a few metres off the fairway which wasn't hard in the gail force wind i played in. The Lochgreen by comparison is a far more pleasant round and frankly i believe the vista on the course particularly on the tree lined areas to be far more attractive. The trees also lesson the worst of the wind but the course still has a distinct links feel to it. For the price i believe its great value. The member and his wife I played with were great company and ambassadors for the club. I enjoyed the experience so much i returned and played the Daley course two days later. A shame i don't live nearby I'd join this club in a heartbeat if i did.
Holes undet reconstruction
2 holes on front nine ajoke 2nd and 3rd this should be reflected in the cost of the round still charging normal price.
Worth a visit v friendly staff
This was definitely worth playing. Not too long. Ladies will love it as they get loads of extra shots unlike the men. 😂
Only disappointed was the 2nd and 3rd were reduced to par 3’s and we were not told before teeing off.
Also signs to holes were very poor. Plus some of the indexes were different to the card.
Def play it tho. This didn’t really retract from our game. Apart from me getting 35 pts and wife 47 😜
I never knew the 2nd and 3rd holes were winter greens and short par three's. The greens were pretty good but the rest of the course was in terrible condition. Definitely not worth 40 pound
Bargain Links is a great day out!
Course is playable all year, great turf and I was surprised by the speed of the greens in early March. Holes 2 and 3 are currently both shortened to par 3s for development work, but every green was on. Some great views and some really interesting holes. Absolute bargain at £16, will be returning soon.
