Troon Links - Lochgreen
About
After or before chowing down on the clubhouse's "Scottish Fayre," take on Troon Links Lochgreen Course.
The Lochgreen Course at Troon Links is widely regarded as the best of the municipal golf courses in Troon, though all offer a great round of golf at prices hard to beat in Scotland.
Troon Links Lochgreen Course is facility's largest, a par-74 that parallels in parts Royal Troon Golf Club and has served as a qualifier for the Open. Jack Nicklaus, for one example, once shot an 82 on the golf course and needed to follow it up with a 68 to make the cut by one shot.

Smashing big long track
Great course to play if u want a good day out, love the amount of par 5s, don't count on a low score it's 74 off the yellows, thoroughly enjoyed it, some tough bunkers on the fairways. Only complaint is the rabbit holes throughout but can't do anything about that unfortunately, looking forward to playing it in the summer when the ball will run a lot further
Winter inland links
Facilities were tremendous. Nice clubhouse.
Front 9 which is more exposed to the coast was nice but holes all over the fairways from maybe moles or whatever. Not sure if they are allowed to do anything about it but they were pretty substantial in nearly every hole.
Back 9 I liked better. More parkland type but with the traditional links bunkers. Greens seemed in better condition here also.
Going to play Fullarton next week and I would still recommend lochgreen. Will return in the warmer months to play again.
Winter golf
You really can’t beat it.
Full course on - great rate and on the day nice weather, beats inland courses all day long…
Try it - you won’t be disappointed

Unlucky with the weather!
The main reason we booked Loch Green is because of their use of normal greens throughout the year.
Unfortunately when we got there, it was frosty and they were using alternative greens.
Although we were disappointed, we know it’s a good course and after they refunded us with a half price voucher, we’ll be back later on the year

Good course and really enjoyable if you get the weather 👍🏻⛳️
Lochgreen at Xmas
Decent track. A bit sodden in places but greens were decent for winter golf. No preferred lies which is great. Overall a good day.

Good tidy course, booked it so we could play winter golf on normal greens and thankfully we got that.
Course conditions
Very disappointed the conditions on course. The course should have been closed. Playing conditions were terrible and as course lwas open we had no choice as there would have been no refund.
Lochgreen supreme
Played course for second time actually had forgotten this gem until I drove up to it.
Glad I picked this course to bring my buddies to as we all loved the course the weather was kind.
Pace of play was great and staff in clubhouse were pleasant and very helpful. Rolls and drinks were lovely and great value.
Thanks to all the staff for making our day.
Last minute booking
Had invited school friends of of over 40 years to play my course almost 40 miles from their home. On arrival the course was closed and so hurriedly needed to find another course. Although downloaded had yet to use the “golf now” app Arrived at Loch Green and managed to get a t time within 20 minutes. The staff were exceptional registering and processing the details on my phone whilst car were being unloaded. Course was in good condition for. October, greens in particular were very good. . Would recommend a visit.
Nice course
Fairways generous. Greens in good condition. Holes flow quite nicely. Signage between holes is ok. Flat easy walk round.
Decent all rounder
6 handicap played off medals,good round,not too slow,good condition for a municipal.
Disappointed not to be able to get a drink when finishing at 1700hrs.
Very enjoyable round overall
Enjoyable course
Really like the layout especially the 5 par 5s good mix of tests and scoring opportunities only downside is lack of a practice net
Poor condition
The course has obviously suffered from the dry weather. Lots of divots and rabbit burrows too. To be fair the weather was poor the day I played and it was supposed to be a course maintainance day.I have payed it before a few times but the fairways were pretty poor.
Great day out
Always a pleasure to play Lochgreen a good score can be had if you’re on your game. Some challenging holes and long par 3s which are great. I would certainly recommend Lochgreen
