Nice place to learn how to play
Track had a reputation for slow play, and did not disappoint. Got out after 45 min delay behind shotgun tourney. We did like the layout and the greens were great. The staff was great, offering free range balls while waiting, however the range balls looked like they were picked up using a lawn mower. Bloody mary was great, food not so much. Cart ran out of juice after 2 holes but we chalked that up to large tourney in front of us. Thanks to super-friendly Chuck out there for making it a non issue. I will not return, but would recommend course to any 20+ handicappers learning to play.
Carts were not charged; only lasted 2 holes.
Balls were not available for the driving range, had ask pro shop. The golf carts were not adequately charged to last a full round.
Very challenging greens! Great course.
First time I used GolfNow.com (app), and this course did not disappoint. The greens are like putting on ice, so that hole could easily jump into a three-putt if you're not careful.
Nice round of golf
With the great deals offered by GolfNow, this is a very good course to play
The course was alright
The course was nice played pretty fast for a Saturday but a little over priced but was ok for last minute tee time
good course to play on a discount, but wouldn't pay full price during prime times.
i played here on mother's day around 1pm with my buddy. we had one single join us. the course was in good condition and pace of play was good due to it being mother's day. i'm about a 12 handicap and i really like playing this course because the length is just right. on this day, i birdied #1 after hitting a 3-wood off the first tee, and i also birdied #17 after reaching the fringe in two. a great course to learn on for beginners up to advanced players. i always get the discount tee times when i play here, good value for $20-$40. i wouldn't play for the full price $60+.
Satisfactory.
Not great, but not bad. Paid less for a better maintained course. Pace was slower than I am used to playing.
Value for the money - better be a long hitter!
For the $35 I paid on golf now, it was well worth it. Hillier and more intersting than some inner city courses. Long yardage, nearly 6,000 yards from the forward-most tees.
If booking on golfnow, be sure you are getting rec18 and not rec9. The detailed text for rec18 describes rec9, but the reservation will be for the 18 hole course.
Greens were lightning fast
Course was in good shape and greens were very fast. Pace of play was very slow due to a mens club tournament. Round took 5 1/2 hours.
Had a fun day. Very challenging course. Management here is doing a great job.
Had fun. Course was in great shape. Cart girl came around often all day. Food service was reasonably quick to keep pace of play going at the turn. Good, courteous service in pro shop, on course, and in the bar afterwards. Greens were extremely fast for amateurs. Why are they cut so close in winter and so very fast?? is my only other comment..This course is one of the best kept secrets around...
Great local course, you will get your money's worth!
Longer than average for a public course. You will get plenty of excercise and feel that you played a good course for a reasonable price. The overall condition was pretty good, but I found the greens pretty challenging so sharpen up on your putting before playing here! I had a great time all five times I have played here.
nothing but 5-somes, 6+ hour pace, no marshalls.
sending out 5-somes is one thing, but doing so with 5 inexperienced golfers, and without any marshalls to help the pace, leads to a very frustrating 8 holes.
oh yeah, we got in 8 holes with a tee-time of 1:30. It got dark at 5.
On a weekday before noon, you may be ok. But any weekend, know what you may be in for, and know the starter will consistently underestimate the delay by at least half ("15 mins delay" = you will be t-ing off 30+ mins late).
Rec park 18 you can do better, even as a public course in the middle of Long Beach!
This course is ok.
As before on other occasions to this golf course, they were behind on their T-box times. We went off 25 minutes after our designated t-time.
Great round for the value
tee to green very nice never having to wait on every tee box. starter very courtious and about his business.
Too slow
Short par 4 hole#1, and #2 means some duches want to drive it for one-on.. Well 99% of people who try will fail but they still wait for group infront to clear.. Which means 30+ min wait on the first tee.
Sloooow play!
Staff was nice. Nice greens! Play was super slow, too many 5 somes going out. Groups ahead of us not playing "ready play golf". No Marshall's on course to enforce and move play along. We weren't able to finish before dark
Great layout
In the middle of overseed...should give everyone a break in price when the course is in this condition.
This course is a typical city course that gets tons of daily play.
I think it is awful that I paid what I did for a course that had sanded greens. Without any prior notice.
Decent course. Very unorganized
The course was in decent condition. Sandy greens and a bit chunked up. Not terrible though.
The guys running the starting were very disorganized. NO STARTER so we had people walking on in front of us while we were waiting for a cart. We actually started 30 minutes late on our tee time which caused us to not be able to finish the course. 3 HOLES SHORT!
Cheap course, plays pretty easy, slow, Good Times.
Good value for a public course
While there are a few pristine public courses in nearby Orange County, Los Angeles is lacking. Long Beach public courses are among the best value in the area. Rec Park is a great place for a mid week round, but be sure you're not in a hurry. Open fairways are great for the average golfer, with small greens making it still challenging.
