Skylinks Golf Course

Course in good shape and pace of play very good. Good thing it was as marshall came out and told us we needed to leave by 3:30 due to a 4pm curfew that was just created due to the rioting and looting. We teed off at 11:30 and finished at 3:15.

Course is shorter, but designed to still be interesting. Pace of play was average, but never had to wait too long. Some very interesting characters on the course though...

Played a four ball on a weekday at 1330 and was expecting a long round going on previous reviews. It turned out to be a very pleasant four hours as the pace of play was excellent. The condition of the course was very good too. Tee boxes and greens 4.5/5, fairways a bit hard and slightly parched but not surprising given the lack of rain. The layout is excellent with some interesting doglegs and bunkering. The greens were in very good condition although not particularly quick today. I was really impressed by Skylinks and thought it a bit of a bargain at $50. I'll definitely be back!

So I have to say, I was very excited that our Long Beach courses are finally back open. I was especially looking forward to the courses being in great condition given the six week layoff. At Skylinks, the greens were in good shape, although ran a little slower than they usually do on account of needing to be mown. Fairways were in great shape with minimal divots as expected. My biggest complaint, has to be the complete disregard from the maintenance crew with regard to the bunkers. The bunkers have clearly not received any attention for at least the last couple of months. I understand with the Covid restrictions that we cannot leave rakes in the bunkers. However I see no reason for the bunkers to be nearly unplayable due to the lack of attention. I was also quite disappointed with the length of the rough. It had clearly not been mown in a couple of weeks despite the course being closed which is just unacceptable. Skylinks is usually in fantastic condition, so the aforementioned disappointments were surprising. Hopefully the superintendent and maintenance staff are planning to remedy these problems in the near future.

Course in very good shape. Rough was very long and no sand in bunkers. Other than that, awesome round. Only 3 and a half hours!

Tee’d off 9:30 Rip the starter was super cool set us off early. I felt cringeworthy on how bad the conditions were yesterday. Dead dirt spots on green fringes and fairways are so dry you get an extra 80 yard rollout (not complaining) . Slow greens with prolly 10 unfixed divots per green. Tee boxes were in good shape. Pace was 4 1/2hrs. Very normal could be fast to some. Average round here 5hrs. I Play here often and would say it needs some TLC from both players and course maintenance.

FIX YOUR DIVOTS

For $80/round, the course conditions are not what they should be. Fairways were bare and greens were inconsistent. The first green looked like it hadn’t been cut in a few days.

Nice course, good fairways and greens. Occasional tee box could be in a better condition. Surprised to see groups of 5 that slowed play down but understand that is common in California.

We needed to rent several sets and despite having called twice about that in advance it wasn't ready but the staff fixed that quickly with a smile.

Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Got a Hot deal on Golf Now for 35$. Fairways and Greens are decent... Greens could be improved... It played 5 hours on a typical Wednesday... There are better options around.

I’ve plated the course before but never has the conditions been this bad. Group of 20 golfers played Sat am and never told by any staff member before paying to play that the course doesn’t drain well and days after the rain ended there were multiple water ponds on the course, some holes had multiple standing water ponds in the fairway many not even visible from the tee box or approach shots. For the course to charge the Public $79 to play you would expect a lot more in regards to course maintenance. Outside of the water, the course clearly isn’t kept up and looked distressed in many areas. For the price, I definitely would not recommend this course to anyone to play.

When checking in, were only told “cart path only.” What we weren’t told is that heavy rains in previous 2 days had left ponds Nd lakes of standing water all over the course. As in multiple ponds, often hidden, on every hole. I was never off the fairway, playing to a likely sub-80 score. But after losing six balls in the middle of fairways, and the complete disruption of any flow to the round, certainly not possible. Talked directly with course managers after the round, who were indifferent to the proshop’s failure to give any heads-up to players about course conditions. Great course, totally inept management on the day in question.

I understand that it is hard to get on decent LA courses. I played on a Wed and was in a 4-some with a 10:08am tee time. Course was decent, a bit short and easy but relatively fun. Greens were true and a competitive speed. That said the pace of play was HORRENDOUS. I have never ever played a 5.5. hour round. No ranger was in sight and I could not understand why it took so long outside of the 5-somes being allowed to play which seems to be common in LA. If they fix the pace of play go for it, otherwise look elsewhere.

Good value fir the money, greens in great shape, fairwasy and rought as expected for the area and limited natural irrigation and rainfall.

Pace of llay was good till we ran into a back to back set of groups, a 4 some and a 5 some that caused us to finish in the dark. Shoukd have had plenty of time to finish.

Amazing time with father- son combo... really great players and playing partners. Staff is nice. Good times happy Holidays. The circle dispensary charges too much lol be safe

Had i known the greens were sanded yesterday, i would not have purchased the round. Very slow play and no marshall to assist the slow players. Nice layout.
