Really disappointed
Booked a round to play with my 2 sons on 12/23. My tee time was 11:48 am. They got us off the tee at 12:06 and we finished the front nine at 3:06- that’s right- it took three hours to play the front nine. We were behind five and six somes. We finally gave up and asked for the nine hole rate as the pace was excruciating and there was no way to finish by sundown which was 4:45. They refused and offered no apology, refund, or explanation. So bummed to have chosen sky links as the place to spend the day with my boys (20 & 18). Places like this are killing the sport we love so much and purely trying to book as man at rounds as possible with little regard for their customers’ experience. So disappointed!

My Go-To Track
If you can learn to live with the pace - which is abysmal even on a weekday afternoon - this is a fun track. Back it up from the Black Tees and it's downright tough. The holes are straight forward, no tricks, bunkers that will hurt you, some patches of trees that will hurt you but overall a forgiving track that is always fun.
One of my favorite things about this track is that I routinely get paired with good folks. I typically play this place as a single or a twosome and I don't think I've ever went out with a group that wasn't fun. Go out, stock up on snacks, prepare for a slow round and have fun.
6 hrs Round
Weekends are typically slow on any city or Muni course however on this Sunday particularly it was super slow. It took us 6 plus hours to finish. we waited on every hole and it got very frustrating and couldn't get into a rhythm. However the course layout is fine, the greens are in great shape. You have to be very patient to play there on weekends.
Grace under pressure
I come to Skylinks somewhat often and the guys in the shop are always awesome. I never realized how many jerks pro shop guys had to deal with until I hung out in the pro shop one afternoon waiting on the singles list. Ethan and Steve always try to take care of their customers. The food is also really good.
Good pace of play
It's a fun/fair course which in mid-spring or early summer would be in good condition. The course itself was slightly beat up and dry but the greens were in good shape and rolled nicely. Good course for a beginner or mid-handicapper.
Not bad for a quickie
This is a heavily played golf course particularly on the weekends. Its not bad for one of the Long Beach courses. I would prefer to play El dorado, however the availability for this particular weekend skyliks had more openings. The beverage girl didn't show up until the 17th hole. The greens are pretty beat up, ball marks galore but puttable . Skylinks is 1 of the courses I play when I need a quickie. I would say out of the 3 courses, big Rec, Eldorado, sky links, I would rank sky links 2nd .
Great round
Just like every time I played there, skylinks has never disappeared. Always a thrill playing this course
Fun and Easy
We went at 8am on a Friday so the pace was great. We didn't wait on any holes. The course was in nice condition. Only real issues with the course is its old clubhouse and no real memorable holes. Overall fun course for the money. Would come back again.
Don't play here if you don't like waiting.
Had a 7 am tee time on a Thursday. Place was packed. Girl at the starter desk said we couldn't get a senior rate because we booked through golf now. That was disappointing to us geezers. Played behind a fivesome and then realized there were many fivesomes on the course. Why? Had to wait on almost every shot. 4 hours and 40 minutes for a round that should have been 4 or even less. Attention golf courses and my fellow golfers. If your going to have fivesomes make them go out when there is a break in the tee times. Members of the fivesome, let any group that is less than five, which should be all of them, play through. Have some golf etiquette. Fivesome is a privilege that you received from the course, not all the rest of the players who have to wait behind you.
Slow play
Management might need to be replaced. Had to wait for a cart. Then asked to abandon my cart, and share a cart with a guy I never met. Nonetheless, seemed really wacky. However, to the golf. Course is a simple layout, with its new upgrades. Presents nice, and very enjoyable. Course is Not long, nor difficult. Find the fairways, and you will score well. Greens are well cared for, and sand traps are great. However I found a couple more than I would have liked.
Play was unbelievably slow. Five hours fourty five minutes. Unacceptable. Played on a Friday at 11:48 am, and this place was a parking lot. Needs some work. Liked the course otherwise.
Slowwwwwww
Had a 5 and a half hour round with a 228 Thursday tee time. Enough said
Long play
It took well over 6.5 hours to play. This is the second time I played here. The first time we gave up on the 14 th hole. We finished this time but still took over 6.5 hours. Until they can manage tee times I will not be back.
Skylinks
Played the Blues (70.3/121/6343) with nodoubles22, and Peter x 2 on their standard weekend twilight rate of $41 which included a cart. The POP was better than expected playing right behind the L.B. City Championship, about 4H, 45M.
Overall, the course was in very nice shape. I like the course layout. Few straight holes, many dogleg & unique golf holes. Especially like the raised green complexes and both the shape & large quantity of the large sand traps.
The tees were the only part of the course not clearly above average. Good coverage but not lush, with many unrepaired divot marks.
The fairways were good overall. Mostly fluffy Bermuda (occasionally thin) that was usually good to hit from.
The Bermuda rough was mowed down. usually nice to hit out of.
The abundant traps were very well maintained with nice, fine, high quality sand. They are large, plentiful and well placed from a design perspective.
The greens putted nice overall, relatively smooth, medium speed. Remarkably few ball marks for a Sunday afternoon following a tournament.
The customer service was excellent in the pro shop and with the starter. No drink cart out today, which was surprising for a hot weekend afternoon. The carts had very nice GPS systems. Course knowledge would be beneficial here. Holes with fairway bunkers hidden behind other fairway bunkers, 90 degree doglegs, a few lakes. Not a tight course, but stray off any fairway and you will probably have multiple trees to contend with. Definitely recommended.
Early birds.
Course is in great condition. Had a 5:56am tee-time, clubhouse was a little disheveled as the ball machine was down and the attendant was wearing many hats. As a result pace was really slow for that hour of the day. Great greens, gps on all carts, good stuff overall.
Good condition. Good value
Had a nice round of golf. The course was is great shape with the exception of some work being done around the greens. No negative effect on the round, just a bit of an intrusion. Great value & great pace.
Worth the time
Golf Now Hot Deal. For those who like to play later in day. Greens were excellent , fairways were links shape - firm - tight lies. I seemed to have trap day, 6 traps - 3 sandies and three bogies. Sand was hard and soft. Played in 4 hours
Run it out!
This course is the best place to go to feel good about your game outside of a cow pasture named Alondra by my house. You can hit 400 yard drives down fairways and stick wedge shots in on par 4's all day.
The conditions are rather good for the amount of play it gets and the course is as expected...plays 4.5 to 6 hours a round on the weekends. We lucked out with rain in the forecast, no-one showed up...I was shocked when I pulled up to see the practice area empty! I couldn't' believe it, I thought the course was closed! I went to the far end practice area and ended up meeting the very nice superintendent who informed me that the practice area was in fact open and it was just very oddly empty! Better for me.
Anyway, the tee boxes are in good shape, the greens are looking good, a few of them have new aprons put on so they are playing as GUR but it doesn't hurt you too bad....it just will stop your ball from releasing onto the greens so avoid it right now!
Overall great experience for a weekend and surprisingly fast on this day, we actually finished in just under 5 hours! Great times on a decent course!
SLOW PLAY
For a Monday it took 5+ hours to complete the round. Waiting and backups at every T box.
So much for mid week golf.
Also surrounded by retirees bragging about their 9 dollar round fee. I paid 42...
