Bit slow but course is nice
Wish Golfnow allowed for walking in their fees. Your main competitor does. Skylinks needs more aggressive ambassadors to push pace of play. Conditions were good and the greens were best I have seen.
A bit dormant but nonetheless
Fairways are dormant but the course team is by far keeping the greens and bunkers in great shape. My only concern are the golfers not repairing their divots or ball marks! When I create a ball mark I clean it up plus two or three as well! C’mon people do what you can to keep the greens in good shape and the pace moving!
Only got 9 in
I had a 1 o'clock tee time and the staff was perfectly friendly. Got to the tee box and it seemed everything was looking good on the first hole (golfers in front of us on the green). We finished out the first hole and then pulled around to a 2 group back up. And that's how it was for the rest of the day. Had to leave after 9 after it took 3.5 hours. Only saw the Marshall come around once to speed up play and it was too late by then.
Fun
I'm pretty new, still trying to break 100. Good course with lots of challenging bunkers. Consistent greens with quite a bit of undulation. Golf carts had gps which was helpful. Staff was very friendly. Looking forward to golfing there again.
Best course in LB
Hands down Skylinks is the best course in LB and has the best staff.
Good Track
Good course to play. I teed off at 0640 and the range has lights for the darkness. Typically a flat course and layed out with the holes next to each other which makes it great for walkers bc the greens and tees and close by. Sand in bunkers were good and greens rolled great. Really no complaints and if your looking for a good track on the area tho is definently one to try. Enjoy!
1/28 I made a reservation(Golfnow) for tea time at 12:20, but the phone call came one day ago and the green fee was changed ($ 53 -> $ 65). I have already made an appointment with the players, and I was unhappy to receive such a phone call in case I got confirmation. Teetime was also randomly changed to 12:28. I had to keep my appointments with the players, so I had to accept them, but I was very embarrassed as the person who made the reservation.
An old friend
I hadn't played Skylinks in quite a while, so this was a good chance to get back and see an old friend. I played on a Friday in early January just after daybreak.
The course was wearing its "winter coat" meaning that the fairways and rough were dormant and brown. The lies weren't terrible, particularly if you consider that most of the rest of the county is under many feet of snow. The main problem for me was that the green speeds were very inconsistent. Some were faster than others and with the slopes and grain, it made putting difficult.
The course is pretty flat, but they get a lot our of the land with the routing. There are holes that dogleg in both directions. A couple of the par 3 holes are pretty long. The bunkers are well placed and some are pretty deep.
Overall, Skylinks is a good muni track if you can get a deal. The rack rate is a little steep, but you can usually find deals in Golf Now. I'll probably try it again in the spring or summer to see how it plays when conditions are a little better.
Ok Price, winter Conditions
Course was in fair condition. Tee box over seeded, but that all. Greens were decent for Dec. Fairways were dry and bare lots of rollout on drives.pace of play was more like weekend play.
Really disappointed
Booked a round to play with my 2 sons on 12/23. My tee time was 11:48 am. They got us off the tee at 12:06 and we finished the front nine at 3:06- that’s right- it took three hours to play the front nine. We were behind five and six somes. We finally gave up and asked for the nine hole rate as the pace was excruciating and there was no way to finish by sundown which was 4:45. They refused and offered no apology, refund, or explanation. So bummed to have chosen sky links as the place to spend the day with my boys (20 & 18). Places like this are killing the sport we love so much and purely trying to book as man at rounds as possible with little regard for their customers’ experience. So disappointed!

My Go-To Track
If you can learn to live with the pace - which is abysmal even on a weekday afternoon - this is a fun track. Back it up from the Black Tees and it's downright tough. The holes are straight forward, no tricks, bunkers that will hurt you, some patches of trees that will hurt you but overall a forgiving track that is always fun.
One of my favorite things about this track is that I routinely get paired with good folks. I typically play this place as a single or a twosome and I don't think I've ever went out with a group that wasn't fun. Go out, stock up on snacks, prepare for a slow round and have fun.
6 hrs Round
Weekends are typically slow on any city or Muni course however on this Sunday particularly it was super slow. It took us 6 plus hours to finish. we waited on every hole and it got very frustrating and couldn't get into a rhythm. However the course layout is fine, the greens are in great shape. You have to be very patient to play there on weekends.
Grace under pressure
I come to Skylinks somewhat often and the guys in the shop are always awesome. I never realized how many jerks pro shop guys had to deal with until I hung out in the pro shop one afternoon waiting on the singles list. Ethan and Steve always try to take care of their customers. The food is also really good.
Good pace of play
It's a fun/fair course which in mid-spring or early summer would be in good condition. The course itself was slightly beat up and dry but the greens were in good shape and rolled nicely. Good course for a beginner or mid-handicapper.
Not bad for a quickie
This is a heavily played golf course particularly on the weekends. Its not bad for one of the Long Beach courses. I would prefer to play El dorado, however the availability for this particular weekend skyliks had more openings. The beverage girl didn't show up until the 17th hole. The greens are pretty beat up, ball marks galore but puttable . Skylinks is 1 of the courses I play when I need a quickie. I would say out of the 3 courses, big Rec, Eldorado, sky links, I would rank sky links 2nd .
