Wilson at Griffith Park Golf Courses

My son and I played at Wilson GC for the first time on a weekday. The course is in great shape, the staff is great, and the pace of play was good. Would highly recommend to my golfing friends.

First time playing Griffith Park since Covid-19 began. Got through checkin quickly, cart was ready, Food and drink setup outside with tables was a pleasant surprise, but they didn't have coffee ready at 8am, which seemed odd. Course was in great shape, except for the numerous swampy areas near tee boxes and where watering was taking place. Since our round ended at 105 degrees, I supposed all that watering was needed. Many areas along the course seemed improved from my last visit, from repaired gopher holed terrain to a properly filled pond at hole number 3. Our foursome, two groups of two, finished our round in less than four hours and I think we only waited on the first hole, so that was great! Snack bar at the turn was clean and well- stocked as always. We will be coming back to play Harding asap. A great day on the course!

I think we came across at least 4 or 5 different green conditions!!! Some had been punched with small holes, some were a bit wet, some were rock hard, and some had not been cut the same way as others. That’s just too many different conditions to have to play in one round, guessing whether the ball would sit down or bounce away etc. And then to putt on bumpy greens with the little holes and others with jagged cuts and others dry and crusty.

Overall the course is playing lush with good hitting areas so that’s nice, but it’s not fun to not know what’s going to happen when the ball gets to the green.
