Wilson at Griffith Park Golf Courses

Pace of play was great. Tee boxes were mostly level. Fairways were lush and green. This course looks like a country club right now. The greens were medium speed but received shots very well. I highly recommend playing here right now

Golfed with a foursome that I’m in a local golf league with. An average muni track in decent shape. Fairways & greens in fairly good shape. Clubhouse restaurant is undergoing renovations so only food options are a food truck parked outside w a couple tables & chairs set up. Saturday fees at $60 felt a little steep for the value.

Note: this review will be very similar to the review of Harding, but is not the same.

I read several reviews about Wilson and Griffith park in general talking about pace of play being an issue. I got off relatively early on Wilson (7:20) but had absolutely no issues with pace of play, completing my round in about 3:20.

Wilson is the slightly longer and more difficult of the two courses at Griffith Park. However, there is nothing particularly tricky about this track and if you can hit the ball 200+ yards straight, you can score here (I played the blues, the blacks do stretch it out a little bit more). In general the holes require a bit more thinking or strategy than at Harding, largely due to more angles and (it felt like, at least) trees.

The course has mature trees scattered about so it's not super-open; however generous fairways are available and even a shot behind a tree isn't going to overly punitive, s simple punch out will keep you from being penalized more than a single shot on all but the worst of shots.

The course is a bit worse for wear... but it's L.A. in August when there isn't exactly a surplus of water... given all of this, it's in fine shape. The bunkers played fine, which was nice. What I didn't love was the number of small concrete drainage gutters that run through the course, very much in landing areas, and can provide some very strange bounces.

The guys in the clubhouse were great and when I called to set up my two tee times they worked hard to help me get properly set up and ready to play both courses. I wasn't as thrilled with the grounds crew here; however, more than a couple times they turned sprinklers on right in front of us, including one time directly on one of my playing partners and her cart/bag... they got drenched.

It's not bucket-list golf, but it's certainly worth the affordable greens fees, especially if you play both as the second round is only $15.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. Tees bumpy, barely any real flat grass, all clumpy, crabby grass, if you can find any real teeing ground worth a punt. Fairways disheveled, patchy all over. Muddy in some spots from the heavy rains of a few days ago, but man, people have no respect, and no care, they just drive through the taped off areas and leave deep cart tracks! So sad. Other areas in both fairways and rough are caked hard mud from all the flattening they do after the moles and gophers wreck the place, and no real maintenance done to make those areas even playable. Greens are firm but bumpy as they are not rolled, they barely cut them, they're just firm now because the cold weather makes them that way, but bumpy as all the previous punched grass spring up in those areas. Just horrible. Starters took for ever, spaced out, don't remember who went when, no information as to why the pace backed up 20 minutes, no marshal on course, so no help or any indication of wanting to help. Total disgrace. And they charge you the so-called "Premium" rates now at this place, ever since the realignment done by the City before the summer, to charge this much for supposed better pace (now 8-min intervals as opposed to 6), but god-awful pace and conditions? Total disgrace. And because the overall sense is cheapness and poor maintenance, that's who plays here, those who don't fix anything, divots nor ballmarks on the greens. How can these people be happy playing like this, leaving the place like this and then coming back again? Didn't you just leave it pockmarked and trashed? Premium? Where's the work that was supposed to be put in to make it premium? Absolutely unbelievable, and is an epitome of L.A.'s ineptitude. And it was 5+ hours today teeing off after 12pm, did not get 18 in, and it's a weekday, whether it's a holiday week or not. If you're coming to L.A. for a visit, don't play the City courses, no matter how low the price may seem, or how the L.A. Mayor preaches that L.A. is a city of international stature, because it is not.

Played a tournament on the Wilson course on Saturday. The course was in nice shape (plenty of grass- no dead spots), you would never know there was a drought. The holes had a lot of variety (changes in elevation, doglegs both ways, etc.). The greens were quick and a bit tricky. My group never had to wait. Overall, a very nice experience- especially for a muni. I would have given the course a better rating, but the driving range was in need of improvement and the putting and chipping areas in the back need some work.

Greens were good,fairways ok, The design is very good. Only real negative is you could not get a tee into the groud on many holes. Par 3s you need to bring a hammer to get a tee in deep for an iron. They must punch/plug the tee boxes. But a solid course.

Old course with very little grass on the fairways. Pace of play was over 5 hours for the round...

Because of the drought and the lack of sprinkling, this LA County loop's fairways are mostly hardpan, instead of grass which makes it hard to accurate assess your chipping/short game. No course marshall meant a round that could've been completed in 4 hours dragged on for 5 hrs. because the group in front of us really loafed. The greens are in fair shape, but If there was a deeper discount (like 40-50% off the rack rate), I would've felt better about playing a pretty beat up layout that seems to have been neglected.

Too slow. We got through 11 holes in 4 hours. Me and my friend had to leave early. Every whole had two groups waiting and not a Marshall in site. I will never play this course again. This is the last terrible experience here. Nothing good to say. Miss week rounds should not take more than four hours for eighteen and that is slow. Poor facilities terrible food can't even get a hot dog well.

Wilson is a solid track that is in good condition considering that it gets an enormous amount of play. Pace of play is good too, if you can tee off before 9:00 am.

Surprisingly busy for a weekday but finished in 5 hrs on a Tuesday. For this course, it's a good pace. Better signage needed from hole to hole for new players. Luckily I played with knowledgable partners who are familiar with the course. The green was speedy and tough but fair in my opinion. Looks like it was recently punched and firming up along with the dry winter conditions. Overall very enjoyable round of golf.

The course was in my opinion over booked. Had to wait 30 mins. After scheduled tee time. They also need to look at pace of play. Had to wait at every hole to the point I couldn't even finish the course in 5 hours.

Close to home, but the course always plays slow, slow greens.

Usually this course of POP is around 5hrs. but today we finish playing less than 4 and 30min. maybe due to HOT temp. close to 100F.
Greens were above average. rolls good, some greens are kind of fast. Fairways so so. Tee box OK.
MOST of good deal on GolfNow. Paid $36 on Holiday with cart.

I really enjoyed the course but I have never seen so many high handicappers and short hitters playing from the TIPS, almost 7000 yards. Needless to say it made for a very long round. The fairways and greens were in excellent condition and the staff was very pleasant.

Would definitely return to play but it would have to be very early in the morning.

I'm now praying for high 90 degree weather again to take advantage of the Hot Deals at Griffith Park. Played here on Friday afternoon, already showing up assuming that my 2:25 tee time would be delayed by crowds and mentally prepared for the traditional 5 hour round here. Instead, I'm sent right to the tee by an awesomely friendly starter, and get out at 2pm on a wide-open track.
Been staying away from this old favorite because of all the construction, but the new cart paths are done and this place is in outstanding shape. Call ahead and make sure there's no other greens maintenance and sure to have a perfect round. Surprisingly green and lush in most areas, excellent greens. Good fairway roll. Not overwatered.

Facilities are old, need to be updated. Course in good condition Greens are excellent but that people have to repair their dibits.In all it's a good value for the money The pace of play is a slightly slow but it is a city course.
