Sitting at the gateway to the renowned Napa Valley wine district, Chardonnay Golf Club meanders through acres of lush Chardonnay and Merlot vineyards dotted with sparkling lakes and wandering creeks. Native flora and fauna cover the golf course, which also provides a home for an abundance of wildlife including hawks, foxes, bobcats, and even the occasional golden eagle. Besides the spectacular setting, the layout provides one of the most challenging rounds in the area. The rolling landscape provides interesting elevation changes and there are plenty of mature trees coming into play. Several holes also feature water hazards and strategically placed bunkers. Chardonnay Golf Club's greens are lightning fast and the course plays long. One of the most memorable holes, both for the scenery and level of difficulty is the par-3 eighth. This hole is framed by stunning views of the Valley and it requires some clever shotmaking skills.

Overall a very nice day

Friendly staff. Restaurant menu, food are not quite up to par quality wise. Breakfast menu and food was just ok.

Golf course is in decent shape. Nice wide fairways. Good fairway turf. Nice greens. Pace is slow as they seem to pack as many golfers on as they can. Waited on the tee box’s for several minutes. Longer than we should.

And if you even see the golf cart girl come around order up because you won’t see her again.

But overall we had a nice day.

Horrible pace of play

Nice course, though putting green was not open when we were there. Biggest factor is the incredibly slow pace of play. Does Chardonnay just pack the bookings and then say go deal with it? Will not be back because of that. Slow, slow, slow play, waited 5-10 minutes on almost every tee box.

pace of play

5 1/2 hour rounds are not my cup of tea. Three of the people in the group I was playing with quit after 6 holes and said they were going next door to Eagle Vines and try to get on their and play.

This course in bad need of a Marshall! I saw the Cart Girl at least twice during 6 holes, but no Marshall.

That's why the lower rating & would not recommend.

Great day

One of my favorites for sure. Great layout. Challenging, but fair. Three par 3’s, three par 4’s and three par 5’s. You don’t see that a lot. I love it. I’d recommend this course to anyone. A little more brown than usual, but not the courses fault at all. We need rain.

This course needs a course marshall

Con: Disappointed with the pace of play. Long waits at every tee box and at times two groups waiting at the tee box at a time. For the price, I’m surprised there was no course Marshall. Pro: The course does have nice fairways and nice views of the vineyards.

A great day out amongst the vineyards

The greens were in excellent shape, the fairways were good with some brown patches. The bunkers could use some more sand.

GOOD COURSE

Course was in good condition. Greens were excellent, and fairways were OK. Pace of play was horrendous. Course Marshall really needs to keep pushing groups to not allow 5 1/2 hours for a round. Staff is very friendly.

But for the bunkers

This course is very interesting with 6 par 3s, 6 4s, and 6 5s. Unusual, to say the least. Course conditions are generally pretty good, except for the bunkers, which are terrible. The greens were smooth, but quite slow.

I play there once a year and always enjoy it. Maybe they will be able to buy some sand in the next year.

Very similar to it's neighbor, Eagle Vines

If you like 5 hour rounds, poorly maintained tee boxes, bunkers without any sand and burnt out fairways, you'll love Chardonnay. We were constantly bumping our balls in the fairway to find some grass and there's no adequate sand in any of the bunkers! Tee boxes were pretty rough as well.

The only difference between Chardonnay and Eagle Vines is that at least Chardonnay had beverage service on the course. Very little service at the pro shop or post round. We didn't try the restaurant.
